WH is pressuring other Repubs to NOT run for Chafee's seat in primary
- the payoff for voting for Bolton.

That is what Douchebag for Liberty just said on CNN's Inside Politics.

1. Talk about ethical problems
This is a bribe, plan and simple. Why doesn't CNN point it out?

5. It's politics as usual.
Been going on for a hundred years, will go on for a hundred more.

2. No surprise
Republicans realize that their best shot of holding onto a blue state like this is with a moderate and an incumbant. As unpopular as Chafee is becomming, a true conservative, without the benefits of incumbency, would be an even weaker candidate.

4. Is this verified that it's a payoff for a pro-Bolton vote?
Jeez. Please tell me Lincoln Chafee has a sturdier pair than that. Please tell me he does.

6. What the hell does Chafee and his ilk see in the Republican Party?
Why do they stay? The party is now completely run by theocrats, so what the hell is in it for moderates? Obviously, they're just staying for the paycheck, and that make them worse then their religiously insane peers.

9. I think that's a legit question. I KNOW that Chafee is --
-- several cuts above someone like Jeff Sessions.

Ok, that's not fair. A bowl of pond scum is several cuts above Jeff Sessions.

What I mean is that Chafee is the choice of RI voters, who tend more toward liberal and moderate and by and large are not the same demographic as Sessions voters.

What's the deal on this, RI DUers? If Chafee switched parties would he be re-elected, or will he dig in, remain in the party of his father, and can Whitehouse beat him?

7. I don't think the WH or Chafee will literally say it is a quid pro quo
but that was definitely the implication.

It was just what Novak said on IP but it makes sense to me because I have wondered what they were holding over Chafee. But then again, he is a Republican although people seem to forget that sometimes.

He needs to switch or get his ass beaten by a Dem.

We need the blue state's Senate seats.

13. This is the problem with moderates, in a nutshell.
Unscrupled opportunists.

John McCain is anti-abortion, and votes with the GOP most of the time, but he likes to maintain his moderate cred so that he can wield power.

Chafee is doing the exact same thing here. The principle of the vote is secondary to the power he can yield with it.

What a fucking chump.

15. Chafee is a sad
pathetic man.

I hope Dems come up with a good candidate. This state may be ripe for a pick up...
