China should let its currency float: President Bush

WASHINGTON : US President George W. Bush urged China to let its currency float and pushed Beijing to embrace freedom of religion.

"We have a very complex but a good relationship with China right now and I intend to keep it that way," Bush told the American Society of Newspapers Editors convention.

"On trade, we're pressing China, for example for floating their currency so we can have free and fair trade," he said.

China's yuan, also known as the renminbi, is pegged at 8.27 to the US dollar and kept in a narrow band by the Chinese central bank, a move critics say undervalues the currency and keeps Chinese exports artificially cheap.

5. They've been pressing China to float for..
at least a year or two. And China has been telling them to go suck on a rock.

Last I heard, their finance chief said it was not China's job to fix our economy.

6. and what are you going to do if they don't
who do we think we are ordering and threatening countries

their is a group of neocons in congress already proposing a trade war. Anyone who knows history, knows that protectionism was one of the reasons why the 1929 depression was so bad

If we deal with other countries on an equal basis in trade negotiations we wouldn't even have this problem. Clinton did not have this problem, then again, the Clinton administration did NOT believe that trashing our dollar was good policy, and starting a war based on a lie was OK

First rule is blame othes for problems you have caused yourself

China owes 40% of our debt, if they stop buying it what do you think would happen?

9. China is fighting a war
They will see the US bleed to death with their wars of aggression and military spending they cannot afford. They will destroy the manufacturing base of this country and we will not be able to export a single light bulb to the world that rejects US imperialism. We are eating the future where the crops are sure to be insufficient as China takes away anything we can export except money as the reserve currency. The twin deficits and the goal of global domination for all time will see the demise of the product of our money printing industry that now sustains us.

China is fighting US domination and they will win because they don't mind a peasant class of working poor and the rest of the world is not going to buy from us even if we were price competitive.

We were screwed before the balance of trade increased due to oil prices.
