I'm very excited Clark is taking the initiative in '08 |
|
Too bad others aren't.
One "liberal" forum has already begun dragging up the same Clark myths...
...already pitting Clark against Dean...
Well if he did indeed announce, he has proved every bad thing I ever suspected about him.
Proving once again Clark is only looking out for himself. But hay, if he can't run as a Democrat, may he can run on the Republican ticket again.
They effectively took care of our candidate in 04, and now want to shove it in our faces. When they grow up some, I might listen to reason.
No wonder Dems live in the policital wilderness. No thought to building long lasting foundation, just me, me, me, I wanna be Prez!!
Sickening.
Well that was a truly stupid fucking move. Really. Getting in this early is a losing proposition.
I could go on, but you get the point.
Seems Clark's advice on Dems defending Dems was lost in these people.

1. Liberal should not be in quotes |
|

There are many branches and threads of liberal.
As for the advice to defend Dems, defending Dems does not mean agreeing with someone's personal political ambitions who is a Democrat.
One could just as easily say that critiquing another site that also includes Dems of a different flavor runs the risk of falling into a paradigm of not defending Dems since it reinforces a divisiveness.

2. yeah... I knew it wouldn't take long |

I think I know the place you're referring to.
And I think "liberal" in quotes is just fine. Nothing tolerant about that place.

... there are some who are tolerant, some who are intolerant. Vive la difference!! Wouldn't it be boring if everyone agreed all the time?

3. I consider myself an old-fashioned liberal |
|
and I`m a solid Clark supporter. As far as I`m concerned. he`s exactly what we need right now. Clark has an amazing mind, an unmatched understanding of international issues, plus his positions on domestic issues are about as populist as you can get. Rhodes scholar, combat vet, family man....he`s great.

7. That's just it. He has not officially announced. |
|
But like so many other candidates, he is open to all options.

6. Sour grapes from a contigent of folks who'd go ga-ga for their candidate |
|
but no....if it's Wes Clark, they all turn into Nellie Olsons.
Forget about it. It's amusing. Besides, they are all a bunch of hypocrites. if it were their beloved candidates saying the same damn thing, they'd be over the moon and don't you believe differently.

What an apt description.
I don't think what Clark did last night in Los Angeles was a declaration of candidacy, but it's amazing how these things balloon into an affront to the chair--no! the entire party! perhaps our entire political process!--within a few hours.

11. We mostly know Clark hasn't "officially" declared candidacy |
|
in that he hasn't had a press conference, set up a campaign committee or started kissing Chris Matthews ass.
However, according to all reports, Gert did NOT smack him in the back of the head when he talked about the '08 run, and that's about as good a confirmation as anyone is likely to get.
I'm not one of the emotional Clarkistas who is willing to surrender my mind and feelings to the guy, but I do have a great amount of respect for him and his accomplishments. I do beleive he is exactly what this nation DOES need in the White House in these times, and I do think the Democratic Party made a serious error in 2004.
That being said, of course there will be other candidates coming out, and of course the Nellies will be trotting out the old attacks on Clark (they are the equivalent of our own Swift Boaties, IMHO) but I think it is refreshing and inspiring to have someone like Clark stand up and say of course he's looking at 2008. Lots of people are doing just that. It takes a mensch like Wes to say it.
As soon as I get my tax check I'm making a contribution to the cause. It'll be the best thing I can do with the money.
