I'm curious.. Does anyone know how the selection process works as far as securing dates for the Democratic and Republican National Conventions?
I know that as far as choosing a location, each party reviews bids by various cities and eventually makes a selection.
But how are the actual =DATES= chosen?
While some people may feel that the national conventions aren't that big a deal.. I still think it sucked royally that ours was FIVE WEEKS after the R-convention.
If we opted to have ours say.. 3 or 4 weeks AFTER theirs in '08, will that be an option?
Anyone know how securing the dates works? ~~Thanks! :kick:

5 weeks before. The incumbent party always goes last.

7. My problem with that idea is... look at what happened to the GOP in NY |
|
The only place that they could've had it that would've attracted a bigger protest crowd is Washington DC and nobody has their convention in DC.
I think the best way to go is a liberal city in a red state. Denver, Atlanta, New Orleans, and even Austin TX would all be good locations.

8. Well there will be some RW protesters ....... |
|
but nothing like what they did in N.Y. My point being is Dean would probably have it in a Red State just to piss off the Republicans.

11. After the 88 convention |
|
There's no way they'll do Atlanta. But I agree with the Liberal City in a Red State idea. Other choices following this criteria would include St. Louis, Cleveland, Miami, Vegas, and Phoenix.
