Voinovich (R-Oh) has "heard enough today to vote NO on Bolton nomination" |
|
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 03:50 PM by paineinthearse
Surprising.
I don't feel comfortable.
Cited lack of inter-personal skills.
We should take more time to give this more consideration, to give time to the other side to gather more information.

Saying that if the vote is going to be a tie, shouldn't we carry on talking some more instead of voting now

"“Shame on Senator Voinovich. President Bush nominated a terrific man to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations in John Bolton. Senator Voinovich indicated he was absent from the Bolton confirmation hearings, which explains his ignorance of Mr. Bolton’s qualifications to serve as a voice for America’s interests at the United Nations,” said Melanie Morgan, Co-Chair of Move America Forward.
“Senator Voinovich is in effect serving as an agent of the obstructionist Senators who have already smeared Bush appointees Condoleeza Rice (Secretary of State) and Alberto Gonzales (Attorney General). He has now empowered Democrat opponents of Bolton to conduct a fishing expedition to dig up every unsubstantiated charge against him as they frantically work to embarrass President Bush by once again smearing another one of his nominees,” Morgan said."
Mommy, mommy, make the scary people go away!

23. Does anyone know what |
|
Luger was talking about when he kept accusing the Dems of blocking a meeting this MORNING? When they (The Dems)collectively let it be known that they had nothing to do with it Luger said he was told that it was the Dems that blocked it. It crossed my mind (yeah I know I am paranoid at this point)that perhaps Luger was fed this info to incite his anger and bully through the nomination. Does anyone know what he was talking about?

25. Senator Reid objected to the Foreign Relations Committee meeting |
|
Frist asked for a "unanimous consent" order that the Senate committees could meet while the senate was in session this morning. Reid objected to the Foreign Relations committee meeting. Apparantly, much chaos took over the senate. With that, Frist called the senate into recess and scheduled a vote for 2:15. That cancelled out the order for the committees to meet and also Reid's objection.
Then about an hour later, Barbara Boxer objected to the Senate going into recess while other Senate Commitees meet. That meant that other Senators were required to vote on whether to go into recess or not.
All that forced the committee meeting to be delayed.
The Dems in the committee meeting said that they (meaning the Dems on the committee) were not responsible for the first action. Barbara Boxer admitted in the committee meeting that she did the second one because she didn't understand what was going on.
