"Free Speech Zone" Declared at (CT) Democratic Event

Hi, everyone. This is my first real diary on DKos and I'm excited to write it.
Members of DumpJoe (Lieberman) and I went to the big, annual Democratic State fundraising dinner tonight to speak out against Joe Lieberman and stump for John Ormand to take his place. What followed was a sad tale of goons, cronies and the disheveled state of free speech.

We were given a table to support John Ormand, but when we put out our DumpJoe literature and bumper stickers, a volunteer came up to us and said we had to get rid of our "anti-Democratic" literature. He hands us a memo from Leslie O'brien, executive director of the Connecticut Democratic Party.

I didn't attend this event. I didn't think keynote speaker John Edwards was worth $175, and the Aqua Club is on the other side of CT from where I live. That's a 2 hour drive one-way from where I work in Massachusetts and a 1.5 hour one-way trek from my house in Northeast CT. But if I had known that DumpJoe would be there, I may have forked over the bucks to attend. I am a member of my town's Dem Committee and would have gladly helped them out.

I say dump the whole DLC - they've become an albatross.
