"Jamie Rubin is a terrific asset for Wes Clark "
From the CCN:

"Listening in now to Wolf Blitzer on CNN with spokespersons for the candidates. Jamie Rubin is an incredibly effective point man for our man. He is class, class, class - which makes a very powerful statement about the judgment of Clark and the seriousness of his campaign.

ON the issue of the Michael Moore statement regarding Bush being a 'deserter' - Jamie firmly repeated what Clark's position on this is - that Clark would have stated Bush was a deserter if he felt that was true - but that he has not looked at the facts surrounding this issue - as he is more concerned with what Bush has done as president and the direction Clark wants to take the country.

Wolf Blitzer asked whether Clark should have made a statement to distance himself from Moore's comment in deference to Bush's position as commander in chief. Wolf also asked Jamie Rubin if he thought Bush was a 'deserter'. Rubin stated he also had not looked into the facts of Bush's Natl Guard duty - and asked Wolf if he had. Good move! It made a significant point.

Jamie Rubin is a treasure. He will be sure to have a prominent place in Clark's cabinet.

GO RUBIN!"

1. why does the media
keep asking Clark and his staff if they investigated Bush and his military record. Isn't that the media's job for crying out loud?

14. oh, Lordie
Well, then, why didn't the old prune 'ask the questions' of candidate Bush in 2000? Or about his coke-snorting days in Houston? Or...or...or...

23. Gossip about that coke snorting
I admit that I thought that possibly the coke snorting was a bit overblown. But then a new friend of mine told me that her husband (oil business) knows a lot of people who had dealings with GW back in the old days. They said not only was he a big time user, but when you needed any, he was the one to go to.

11. Wolf responded as pitifully as you'd expect from him
After having fairly defended both Clark's response that he wasn't interested in the "deserter" issue and Clark's focus on the real issue, Wolf persisted with the "deserter" bs, asking Jamie...

Wolf: You don't think, though, that President Bush was a deserter, do you?

Jamie Rubin: "I've never looking into it. Have you?"

Wolf: "Uh, ya know, I'm the one that's asking the questions... you're (inaudible) the answers."

17. That ROCKS
implying the media isnt doing their job on this - that's good :)

every time they bring it up, they should get bit in the ass like this - either they'll stop talking about it, or they'll be forced to go to TomPaine and read the story they should have covered 4 years ago.

3. "...and asked Wolf if he had."
Brilliant :toast:

And what did that blown-dry corporate stooge say in response? Probably something along the lines of, "Duh, back to you, Judy!"

:)

15. Missed the "overtime pay" question, big time, though.
Jamie did OK on CNN, just now, but he blew it big when asked about the "overtime pay" issue. Both Rubin (Clark's man) and Gary Hart (Kerry's surrogate) said they didn't know anything about the overtime pay issue; however, Dean's man, Steve Grossman (Nat'l Dean co-chair) *was* able to speak to it.

Gotta do better than that.

16. I always liked Rubin. During the Clinton never-ending witch hunts
he was a voice for sanity and reasoned opinion. The guy knows Repuke tricks through and through. He's definitely an asset to Clark.

22. That was a great interview.
Rubin should be the only spokeperson for the Clark campaign. He does it so well. Keep Lehane away from the cameras! Let Rubin do it ALL!

Go, Wes!

25. Quit starting these threads!
I'm supposed to be getting ready for my Clark House Party tonight!!!

Jamie Rubin is a GOD (I saw him speak the other day, clutched his hand, and almost didn't let go!). I don't have time to go into the whole description of his talk, but he was awesome, and he's just brilliant. He did preface his talk (and q & a session) with the disclaimer that he is Clark's Foreign Policy Advisor, and that he would do his best to answer questions on other issues, but that domestic issues were not his area of expertise.

I also want to clarify that you said Jamie firmly repeated what Clark's position on this is - that Clark would have stated Bush was a deserter if he felt that was true , but as I recall, he said something more to the effect that 'this is not the approach that Clark wants to take.' He specifically left it open as to whether or not Clark believes the charges against bush - but indicated that that is not the focus of Clark's campaign - that he is focusing on his own experience, and what he can do for our country.

I literally clapped and cheered when he turned it back onto Blitzer! :toast: I think my dogs think I'm a little off my rocker.

Just wanted to give my penny's worth here... :)

26. Oh, we need to continue this smart tactic.
The media should get off their asses and research stories.
That's their job.
Have you done your job Jennings et al?
