Republicans have all their eggs in one basket |
|
It just occurred to me that the only issue they have left is family values. Polls indicate a growing dis-satisfaction with Iraq policy so they don't have national security anymore. They're not the party of immigration controls anymore. They're not the party of fiscal responsibility anymore. They're not the party of freedom from government regulation anymore. Social Security? you've got to be kidding! Education? No way! Everyone hates no child left behind. Seriously, they have NOTHING else. As soon as you only have one issue left and people find out you're a total fraud on that one too, you're in alot of trouble!

but I think a lot of people are so emotionally invested in the modern Republican (neocon) agenda that they'll never give it up.

is mention "gay marriage" and people will keep voting for them. Of course they'll never do anything about it because that issue, and abortion, is what keeps people voting republican. If people who are republican think about it on a lot of other issues they'll probably more along the lines of democrats but because the republican party has claimed Christianity and "moral values" people will keep going to them. Who cares if they don't have jobs or a healthy enviornment. They'll keep voting as long as the republicans keep talking about gay marriage and abortion and of course they'll never do anything about it. If they were going to do anything about it I think they'd already start talking about it but I haven't heard anything.

17. well sort of, but.... |

most of it is based on racisim. Abortion and the other wedge issues provide a good smoke screen, but when it all shakes out, the Repubs have covertly ( sometimes) promoted White privilege and supremacy as their ace in the hole, and it's the reason some people would rather surrender their souls in order to "conserve" those ideas. Those who don't subscribe to the " tribal loyalty" and the "others" are actually the majority, so our job is to first, figure out how to expose and eradicate what's really going on.

When you've literally put all your eggs in one basket; such as sending your children off to die in a war, how could you resolve changing your mind after the fact. I couldn't. I would live with my lie and beliefs forever or my grief would be unbearable.

14. That's definitely going to be a problem with many Repug voters. |

Need a tactic to counter that, though.

The Repugs, in spite of their huge mess, still outpoll the Democrats by a mile on national security. The sheeple remain sheeple.
The sheeple still think the Repugs are better at managing the economy and taxes, in spite of decades of evidence to the contrary. The sheeple, after all, are sheeple.
So, even though the Repugs may be polling low for their current policies, when put up against a Democratic challenger, they still manage to win. Soylent Green is SHEEPLE!

The reason that repugs still poll better on the economy is that the real estate and stock markets give the little lambs a temporary sense of well being.
If/when we see major cracks in either of these two asset/capital classes that affect the majority of the electorate, all this allegiance will suddenly disappear into thin air.
People are already concerned about job security, wage growth and outsourcing, but not enough that it overcomes their drunken glee over exploding home prices. There will be a tipping point however, probably in the not too distant future.
Unfortunately, the elitist Dems do not have many good solutions for either of these looming problems, as there are none that are politically feasible. When you have a structural debt bubble that will not be allowed to pop and foreign labor rates at 1/10th of domestic ones, the type of shock therapy required would be equivalent to cutting off ones leg to save one's life.
Until we are faced with the grim gangrene of reality, we will embrace the "persistent vegetative state." After all, it's worked so far...

7. And their "Christian" supporters are running out of control. |
|
The Reconstructionists like Focus on the Family's James Dobson are demanding their due for electing this current bunch into office. The judge wars could go either way, but I'm betting on our way. It is becoming clearer that Bush's judges aren't being opposed for their religious beliefs as Dobson says, but because they want to make their religious beliefs the law of the land. We need to make sure that connection is clarified and kept out in the open.

Ironic that they are so vehemently anti-feminist. Perhaps were we to find the republican-gene, they'd become extinct much like a cleft pallette.

13. Repeating the message constantly works... |
|
If they keep repeating that the Democrats are the tax and spend ones, it works. We all know they overspent the Democrats and on awful things, but that isn't getting reported.
Those talking points, repeated on a regular basis, stick to a lot of people who only get to see 10 minutes of national news between car chases and Michael Jackson.

16. All you have to do with that |
|
is look at the defecit. Look who spent tons of cash for a war that wasn't nessessary and is immorally wrong. Like Howard Dean said: don't trust your money with republicans. They'd spend it unwisely (I added that part). Maybe people are just waking up. Slowly but surely. One can hope.
