Bush turns Earth Day into "WTF Day"..."our economy has grown a lot"
Edited on Fri Apr-22-05 10:52 PM by Bush_Eats_Beef
Supreme Dark Overlord Bunnypants shares his thoughts:

THE PRESIDENT: It's great to be back in the state of Tennessee -- I'm sorry we're not at the Great Smoky National Park. Senator Lamar Alexander has been urging me to come to the park and see the great beauty of a part of the world where he was raised. I'm proud to be traveling with Senator Bill Frist, the great Majority Leader of the United States Senate from the state of Tennessee; and Lamar Alexander. The thing about old Lamar is he's constantly reminding me that without Tennessee, Texas wouldn't be much. (Laughter.)

In the park, had I been there, I would have reminded people today is Earth Day, a day in which we recommit ourselves to being good stewards of our land. We didn't create this Earth, but we have an obligation to protect it.

One of the interesting things about our nation is that since 1970, the air is cleaner and the water is more pure and we're using our land better; and our economy has grown a lot. My point is, it's possible to have economic growth and jobs and opportunity and, at the same time, be wise stewards of the land.

2. Did the audio transmitter malfunction or
did you double-paste that last part?

Anyway, I think the use of the word "interesting" is interesting. I suppose it's meant to make him sound like a thinker. Since he's telling scientists he knows better, and all.

6. Whoooops...thank you. All fixed.
I guess I was so inspired by our President's thoughts on our growing economy that I wasn't paying attention.

9.  Well, when he says "our"
I think he's referring to him, Laura, and some pals, not you and me. And even with our debt over $7 trillion, there's still dirt! So... Hurray for Earth Day!

7. Thank Gaia for that!
Chimpy was scheduled to do the Brush-Cut-Strut at the National Park, but a horrendous storm blew in just an hour before he was scheduled to land at/near Cades Cove.

Then, just as soon as the WH announced that they'd make a tarmac photo-op before flying on down to the Potemkin Ranch, the storm broke up and blew through.

Gotta love it!

It was fun - and I got to witness it all - livin' in that area and all.

Oh, and :hi: Hatrack!

P.S. You'll be thrilled to note that the sun stayed out the whole rest of the day upon Bush's departure. It didn't rain again until 8 p.m., after dark. :)

What do you mean "we" White Man? You want to rape, pollute & exploit while giving tax breaks to your minions & absolve those who pollute. What a fucking hypocrite.

10. "Stewards" is a fundie code word.
Whenever you hear it, look for the wolf under the sheepskin.

12. No, "stewards" is a good word, stolen by fundies.
And it's not their sole ownership - it's mine, too.
