Alabama girls learning to talk......
I'm going to a Language Group discussion meeting this afternoon sponsored by the Tuscaloosa Democratic Women. We are brainstorming new ways to get our message across by using more effective language. Any suggestions?

1. Has the group read Lakoff's book on framing the debate?

3. Oh goody!!
This should be a massive DU project. I just put together a list of 32 Reps who voted for bankruptcy & the energy bill. Your two Dem Reps are on the list. I don't understand why African-Americans voted for this stuff. Clearly we are missing the boat in AL. I want to help. You've got 7 Reps, 2 Dems who voted with the Pubs. The entire northern district voted in a Dem, and Birmingham, which is a big district too. 75% in each district. You probably knew that, I didn't. Definitely room to work, but we have to figure out why they voted for those bills in order to know how to start changing voter minds to pressure the Reps to vote different.

4. Whew! When I first read the titile of this post, I thought it
was going to be some bash of the Southern drawl. I've read that there are companies who discriminate against the Southern drawl, alleging that people who have one are stupid.
Thankfully, your post was about something non-discriminatory and positive!
Keep us updated on this, will ya? Maybe we can implement it in your "northern" neighbor, Tennessee.

5. I thought you were talking about kids
The Democratic women in Maine are forming a similar group. I'll be looking to this thread to learn what others say to you.

Good luck and have fun. :)
