Boxer and Harkin tied for first place in Senate ratings chart
http://patrickhenrythinktank.org/sen-scores.html

On a scale of +100 to -100, Boxer and Harkin are tied with a +20.

The only other Senators to have a posiive score (meaning they vote with the Democrats more often than with the Republicans) are Akaka and Kerry with a +2.5

The best of the others broke even.

Salazar and Ben Nelson have a -100.

1. Pretty Tough Scale

And I am skeptical of anything where Santorum's score is not as low as a couple of the Democrats.

Anyway, this whole AWOL business - Clinton is listed as AWOL on March 10. This was the day her husband went in for surgery, so I don't think that should be held against her.

on edit: I think Hillary missed a vote on the bankruptcy bill.

In the House, there are people with an AWOL and a +62
on a scale that only goes up to +80. The problem with Hillary is that she keeps voting with the Republicans. I realize she's rich but screwing the public to help the credit card companies in the bankruptcy bill doesn't make her the kind of Senator who gives me a lot of confidence.

5. That's Because It Is The House
Senators must win election by a whole state of people so are likely to try to move to the center or right.

Congressional reps usually campaign in rigged districts and don't have to appeal to as broad a range of political views. So, you will find more extremists of both sorts in the House, although it seems like there are plenty of extreme right Senators, so I don't know...

3. If I had to choose between Boxer and Harkin....
it would be a tough call. I've always liked Tom Harkin and what he's stood for. Boxer is one hell of a senator too. It looks like it's gonna come down to that at this website, too:

4. Hmmmm, I think I will invent my own scale too!
That scale is meaningless.

6. This scale is based on their human rights voting record.
The Republicans are all at near -100 so they apparently stick together on these votes. It's too bad the Democats don't care enough about human rights to score at +100.

Only someone who was for death squads or for the credit card companies and against the average America could find fault with this chart.
