Here's a wonderful little mess I found on something called "The Q And O Blog - Free Markets, Free People." It would seem that the right wing of the GOP is starting to feel some antipathy towards those in the Senate whose views are, well, rather cautious as of late.

In the world of hard-ball politics the Republican's (sic) are shopping for a spine:

These officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said a recent survey taken for Senate Republicans showed 37 percent support for the GOP plan to deny Democrats the ability to filibuster judicial nominees, while 51 percent oppose.
Additionally the survey indicated only about 20 percent of Americans believe the Republican statement that Bush is the first president in history whose court appointees have been subjected to a filibuster, a tactic in which opponents can prevent a vote unless supporters gain 60 votes. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity, noting the survey data has not been made public.]
Upset conservative person yelps:
"Fingers firmly in the wind, Republicans are polling to determine whether they can remain popular and do what needs to be done to get their nominees out of committee for an up and down vote in the full Senate. This is admittedly a pet peeve of mine. Instead of having the courage of their convictions and doing what they feel is the right and proper thing to do, the Republicans are shopping for approval. They're basing their actions on popularity rather than their principles. Why else a poll on the popularity of an in-house Senate procedure? Is that what you Republicans elected these yahoos to do? When if ever, will these people grow the necessary appendages and act like the majority party?"

Gotta love that. The Pugs are getting all shaky and weak-kneed? Maybe they are beginning to sense that 2006 will be the year of the great GOP flush. In other words, they're hearing footsteps.
