Kerry lucked out by Dean's WWE style
Because in all honesty, Ted Kennedy's performance post Iowa Caucus made him look like he was Jimmy Hart managing Hulk Hogan. If Dean, wouldn't have made his crazy speech, Kennedy's performance may have been the joke on a lot of late night talk shows. Yikes, Ted may get folks fired up that are party loyalists, but get ready once Kerry is the nominee for the Kennedy/Kerry linkage by Limbaugh, Hannity, etc... And they will play Ted Kennedy's worst campaign statements/speeches, over and over and over.

For all of the Kerry fans, if you want him to win, get him to tell Mr. Kennedy to calm down.

2. Well, I for one haven't even heard about Teddy's performance so far
so I guess it isn't an issue.

7. Psst...that's the point of the post.
If Dean didn't "YEARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!", the joke WOULD HAVE BEEN Teddy Kennedy's speech for Kerry.

Later.

8. Its not in the news because of Dean's speech
But if Dean is no longer around, look out for the Ted Kennedy sound bites. Having Kennedy run around everywhere with Kerry is not going to help later on.

9. Live by the sword. Absolutely correct
I don't see Kerry trying to hide his relationship with the entire Kennedy family.
My question is what did Kennedy do that was so outlandish?

12. His speech at Kerry's post Iowa get together seemed crazy
Or at least a little. Kennedy gets wound up sometimes too and sounds a lot like Dean wound up. I saw Kennedy before I saw Dean and I said wow, Kerry needs to keep him from talking so much.

3. Should we just sedate them all?
Just pump all Democrats full of some "calming drugs"? Shees...whatever. It's just as silly to criticize Kerry for KENNEDY as it is to, oh, criticize the entire Democratic party for one speaker at a Wellstone memorial, or to criticize Dean for firing up his supporters after a loss.

PFFFT!!!

4. You Know, I Thought Of A REALLY Tasteless Joke A Minute Ago
and this seems like the perfect thread for it:

Should Kerry use a Dead Kennedy's song for his Campaign's theme music?

Holiday in Cambodia?

6. Kerry is his own man
And since he disagreed with Kennedy on the war, I don't think he's gonna be pinned that tightly with him.

I'd expect to see Bill Clinton out campaigning with Kerry more than Ted will.

10. Oh come on
Ted was all over the place in Iowa. At first Ted will be big-time into campaigning, but then the Kerry camp will probably decide to have him curtail his involvement. Ted's a leader of the Dem part and its probably tough not to initially want him around, but goodness this guy can seem too wacky and fired up when giving speeches too.

This linkage could help Edwards big-time in some primaries, if I'm Edwards I'm hoping that Limbaugh and Hanniity and everybody start pushing the Kennedy/Kerry link big-time sooner rather than later.

11. Maybe you've missed it...
...but we're wanting to discuss differences on issues. It's the GOP and the whore media that want to have the news cycle dominated by trivialities...

15. well the difference between Kennedy's yelling and Dean's yelling
Is that:

(a) Kennedy kept it brief

(b) Kennedy was celebrating a winner

(c) Kennedy can do whatever the hell he wants to do because he's Ted Kennedy. He's been through all the fires and all the wars. There's nothing a Republican can say about him that he hasn't heard a million times and there's nothing a Democrat can praise him for that hasn't been said a million times.

Dean was introducing himself to the country with his speech. Kennedy is already a known commodity, whether you love him or hate him.

As a lifelong Masshole, I agree with you 100% about Kennedy.

13. Of course, Ted Kennedy isn't running for President.
Which is why it's not big news if he doesn't act 'Presidential'.

17. Harkin, Kennedy = Cheerleaders: Kerry, Dean = Potential Presidents
Edited on Fri Jan-23-04 03:00 PM by emulatorloo
This was Dean's first chance to introduce himself to a lot of voters nationally and this was what he choose to do -- he took the wrong role. To me it was bad judgement. I saw it live, I wasn't scared, but I thought it was poor judgement.

Anyway, I think Dean is past this now!

ON EDIT; clarification, removed dumb thing I said
