McCAIN'S INVESTIGATION (Pending indictment of Abramoff?)
As much as it pained me to click the link, this article is worth it:

http://www.townhall.com/columnists/robertnovak/rn20050423.shtml

Sources close to Sen. John McCain say he hopes the Justice Department will indict embattled Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff, which would terminate investigation by McCain's Senate Indian Affairs Committee of Abramoff's deals with Indian tribes.

McCain has been accused by critics inside the Republican Party of using the Abramoff investigation to get back at foes of the senator's 2000 presidential campaign and help his possible 2008 candidacy. Government sources report federal prosecutors are considering possible RICO (anti-racketeering) and tax evasion indictments.

During a recent closed-door luncheon of Republican senators, McCain declared that the Abramoff investigation was not intended to harass any individuals. The organizations run by Republican activists Ralph Reed and Grover Norquist, who were vigorous opponents of McCain in 2000, have been subpoenaed by the McCain committee in connection with his investigation.

1. I talked to a BIA rep from Arizona who said that McCain has usually
been a champion for Native Americans so if it looks like he is getting even, then let the guilty feel their pain.

2. I refuse to get my hopes up
that McCain will do anything to the detriment of the Republican party, deserved or not. At the end of the day he's a party man. If he wanted to "get back" at anyone from the 2000 campaign, you wouldn't have seen a picture of him humping Dubya's leg.

6. It's been a while...
... so people don't talk much these days about the Keating Five scandal, but it's still in the back of my mind. McCain's very much an insider Repug, and when he starts getting his back up about the misdeeds of others, I simply remember that.

And, you're right about the kowtowing to Bush--if anyone had done to me what Bush and his people did to McCain in South Carolina, that would have made for a helluva long grudge.

8. Too many people on this forum
think that McCain is some great hope for the return of decency to the Repub party. He will back Bush, Cheney and the rest of the bunch in whatever they try to do. Almost two years ago, I e-mailed McCain asking him why if we were at war as Dubya and he were saying there was no draft, no surtax to pay for the war, and no anti profiteering law. I have yet to hear from him. The man used up all his honor in VietNam and I bet his father and grandfather are spinning in their graves.

You know I respect John Mccain for what he went thru in the Viet Nam War. I thought it was lousy of the Bush Croonies to treat him the same way they did John Kerry. Politically though Mccain looses alittle more of his shine every day.

9. He's also crazy
Remember how he shot watermelons in his back yard as part of his Vince Foster investigation?

He's the congressman for a couple Indianapolis suburbs, and last year a couple people from my school went to Washington to lobby for this bill helping people with autism (their senior project) and they arranged a meeting with him. They said he just ranted randomly for twenty minutes, called the photographer in, and then told them to leave.

I think that if DeLay goes down, they'll pick someone like that Zach Wamp character.

10. Ew on Wamp
He's my Congressman and I'm hoping to boot him out next year with John Wolfe. I can't stand Wamp. My mother used to be a fan of him and I wouldn't be surprised if they do go with Wamp if he's still there. My mother told me she was going to vote for Wolfe next year and I was surprised cause she used to think highly of Mr. Wamp.
