CNN: Attendees of the Frist "God Rally" were "urged to call Joe Lieberman"

Among those who spoke to the rally was Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. In videotaped remarks, he told supporters he was willing to use the Republican majority to change Senate rules to prevent filibusters of judicial nominees.

"My Democratic counterpart, Senator Reid, calls me a radical Republican," said Frist, a Tennessee Republican and possible presidential candidate in 2008. "I don't think it's radical to ask senators to vote. I don't think it's radical to expect senators to fulfill their constitutional responsibilities. I don't think it's radical to restore precedents that worked so well for 214 years." Frist's participation in the event drew fire from Democrats and hundreds of religious leaders, who accused Christian conservatives of raising unsubstantiated allegations of religious persecution.

Viewers of the program -- subtitled "Stopping the Filibuster Against People of Faith" -- were urged to call senators like Republican John McCain of Arizona and Democrat Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut to support Frist and other Republicans in the standoff.

Frist has argued that no judicial nominee with majority support has ever been held up by a filibuster. Biden said that was "simply not true," citing Supreme Court Justice Abe Fortas, who was blocked from rising to chief justice in 1969, and subsequently quit the court.

4. I think we should explain to Lieberman exactly what the radical

right-wing Christian wing-nuts want to do to the Jews.

Google some radical websites that speak, specifically, to the wing-nuts' beliefs that Jews in Israel (and the Catholics) have to be converted to their brand of Christianity or KILLED so that the Rapture may take place.

If we'd start explaining this to the Jews and the Catholics, it may erode this support.

6. Not the only Dem

I watched it just to take notes. It was so full of lies it was pathetic. I was wondering how many they bussed in to this event. Also they brought in a Black preacher to speak, but the funny thing is the audience was 99.9% white.

What really got to me was their saying that the courts have a "Liberal Ideology" you know like the "Liberal Media", but they are not for that, they want a total partisan "Conservative Ideology", but they pointed out they are not partisan. :crazy:

The Dems they listed in fact continually listed their names and numbers while this was going on.

The list of Dems is extremely interesting. One can understand that they'd target Democrats who represent red states, but where does Lieberman fit into that?

I'm wondering if we won't see Lieberman flip, and then claim some kind of overwhelming public response influenced him. Could this be a set-up he engineered with Frist beforehand to give him an out to stab us in the back yet again?

I hate to consider some kind of back-door deal on this, but the inclusion of Lieberman is curious.

8. Blocking nominees from getting a vote in committee who would win floor

votes is not allowing an "up or down vote" on judicial nominees.

This was done to 39% of Clinton's appellate court nominees. Don't tell the American people the Democrats are breaking a 214 year tradition by using the only weapon they have to stop Dubya's right wing corporatist ideologues--the filibuster.

It is a lie! Orin Hatch changed the rules in 2002, when the Republicans regained control of the Senate, so that blue-slips (used liberally by Rethugs to block Clinton judicial nominees) were now only advisory.
