Peter Jennings needs to report the facts
It is the media's job to investigate the facts...

When will the main stream media do this since it is not popular? When we clamor for the answer. Write Peter Jennings and ask him to give the report as a 30 minute special - maybe Michael Moore can do a piece on it too.

Here's Michael's email and what I sent to him.

'mike@michaelmoore.com'

Being a center talking point in a Presidential debate is an amazing accomplishment. I applaud Clark’s answer at deftly turning the question into a talking point on the future, not turning his back on a supporter (your support does not come cheap and he treasured it), and for staying out of the fray which made him look even more Presidential. I have been a silent Clark supporter since before the Iraq war – so, I am perhaps not 100% objective.

But getting into the fray is the media’s job – and you as a media person have done a great service by bringing an apparently dead issue back to the table with your association with Clark. I look forward to George being asked about this – and the rest of the country should demand an answer. Having made the debate I assume that you are going to pursue this issue even further – continue your pursuit for truth.

Thank you for being the controversial figure that you are.

3. How? By being a LIAR
or so intimidated by the Fox thugs, that he couldn't ask the question without that little "disclaimer"

Give him a piece of your mind, he needs as many pieces as he can get!

7. Peter Jennegs isn't a liar, he's an ACTOR
He's just reading the script they put in front of him.

8. the script has a second act
watch the whores recite "Clark blundered by not denouncing Moore."

I'm expecting David Brooks to say that tonight on PBS, then the various weekend whores will join in.

14. Mr Jennings, I know you're not a newsman, but you play one on TV.
Much like your colleagues and fellow moderators at Faux news.
(My but you were a well matched bunch.)

Since you are too lazy to actually do the job of a real journalist,
maybe you can muster up the energy to merely read the reporting
of real journalists who have presented hard evidence on Bush's
desertion from the domestic national guard. If that's too much
work perhaps someone can read it too you. I've attached this
material, helpfully compiled by "Michael Moooore," Oscar winning
(translation into Jennings-speak "controversial") film maker.

With all due respect, ya big fraud.

()

Ok! Now what's the big fraud's email address.
I think it was circulating last night.
Let's pelt him with m(o)ore material!

2. cool, thanks for the link!
:toast:

My note to ABC:

I am terribly disappointed in Mr. Jennings' performance at last night's Democratic debates. Apparently his "journalism" credentials came from a vending machine. It has been common knowledge that George W Bush did, in fact, fail to report for duty for an entire year while in the National Guard, and even a cursory review will bring this out. Even the C.O. at the time has said, on record, that no one by the name George Bush ever showed up for duty at his unit.

Mr. Jennings' statement that this claim of desertion is "not supported by the facts" is a lie, pure and simple. Did Fox News insist he add that disclaimer to his question?

There are many of us out here in America who know the truth, and we are growing weary of seeing the news media telling blatant lies. Please redeem your honor and your selves, by having Mr. Jennings either admit that he "mis-spoke", or have him resign in disgrace. No other option is acceptable.

9. YW and thanks for
kicking it up a notch. I hope to see a "fair and balanced" report from Peter soon. He's got some splaining to do to us all - if not somebody else will do the report and make Peter look really bad.

4. Don't forget Jennings' comment during the 2001 inauguration...
Something along the lines of, "Now it's our (the media's) job to confer legitimacy on this presidency."

Just keep that in the back of your mind. If you're interested in a more detailed analysis, you can always go HERE.

6. Criticism of the shrub is verboten
Democratic candidates cannot criticize the pResident and are answerable if their supporters do.

This is ridiculous. Coming from Peter Jennings it is just plain alarming!!

10. Coverage by the mainstream media
should be scrutinized really closely by Democrats this election year, to insure that media bias doesn't impact the election unfairly.

For example, RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie recently tried to criticize General Clark's views on Iraq based on a transcript that Matt Drudge selectively excerpted (with ...) from a 2002 Congressional hearing. However, the full text of the transcript from the actual hearing said the exact opposite of what Mr. Drudge and Mr. Gillespie claimed because General Clark's words had been taken entirely out of context. Allegedly, ellipses were used to conceal gaps of some 11,500 words! Mr. Drudge and Mr. Gillespie got caught in public making a smear. See more about this story at http://www.mediawhoresonline.com "For Once the Press Acts as it Should" (article by Gene Lyons).

Some mainstream media sources reported this very (for the GOP) embarrassing incident. It seems to me that the story deserves a great deal more coverage from mainstream television networks than it received.

I totally agree with you that Peter Jennings and the media should thoroughly investigate all the facts. A special on the issue of President Bush's military record would really interest a lot of viewers this year.

11. Deserter vs. AWOL
Don't you think Jennings, Clark, Kerry, and whomever else gets asked this knows there is a difference?

I've heard about this about bush for at laest four years. I rarely heard the term deserter used, 98%+ of the time the term AWOL is used. Why, because it is the one that applies. Tough to prove bush was a deserter, even at the time it would've been tough, but its pretty darn clear he was AWOL.

12. Instead of asking all the democrats
why doesn't Jennings and the other so called journalists just go and ask Bu$h? These allegations are about things Bush did, I don't think any of the candidates even knew him back then?

and I hope Bill Maher responds to this somehow. He calls Bush AWOL all the time.
