US admits Iraq insurgency undiminished - 27/04/2005 |
|
The Iraqi insurgency is just as strong now as it was one year ago, the most senior US military officer, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Richard Myers has stated. http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200504/s1354084.htm

1. the question i have is ... |
|
did he make the following statement quoted in the article at the same press conference (where he said the insurgency was at about the same level it was at a year ago) or did he say the following after he was "spoken to" by Rumsfeld and "others" ???
"I'm going to say this: I think we are winning, okay. I think we're definitely winning. I think we've been winning for some time," Myers told reporters."
funny, the two statements seem contradictory to me ... i seem to remember some WH types citing an earlier reduction in violence as a sign the US was "winning" ... i guess the same number of attacks as a year ago means nothing but fewer attacks means something ...
OK ... now i think i understand ... makes lots of sense, doesn't it ???
