Poll question: How much do you love Al Franken?
In this article in Salon, Al Franken is moving his show on Air America to his original home state of Minnesota so he can run against Republican gasbag Norm Coleman, who holds Paul Wellstone's old seat in the United States Senate.

The question is, how much do you love this idea?

1. Here's a thought though. . . .
If he wins, that would require leaving AAR, and while not liked by everyone, he is a cornerstone of the AAR lineup. With all the turmoil at AAR recently (getting rid of Rachel and Chuck, the move to XM exclusively, etc.), what will be the long-term effect on AAR if he leaves?

In other words, would he serve the cause better by helping keep AAR growing, or by running for office?

15. The article says that he is bringing the show with him to Minnesota
I don't think he has to leave AAR.

4. I will support Al Franken for this alone...
"The more I do this show, the more I realize that healthcare is a huge issue," Franken says. "We were just talking about the bankruptcy study and Elizabeth Warren from Harvard did this study and 50 percent of bankruptcy is because of some kind of medical problem and most of that is because we don't have universal healthcare and then you look at reservists returning from Iraq and they don't have healthcare." He says he is not a pure party loyalist. "There are a lot of problems I have with the Democratic Party. That 18 Democrats voted for that bankruptcy bill, that says a lot. That should have been a bill where we said no."

I think Al Franken "gets it."

5. I don't think Al Franken gets it
I know he does. He's one of the sharpest tools we have in the drawer, and he's reaching a LOT of people who otherwise would never have tuned in AAR.

9. He was born and raised there. How can that be seen as carpetbagging?
Although I'm certain they'll lie if necessary.

Al has said several times on air that he was born in NYC, but moved to Minnesota at a young age.

19. Carpetbagging won't come
Up because while Franken hasn't lived in Minny for a while atleast he grew up there. Coleman didn't live in Minnesota till after graduate school.

12. He will have a
larger audience. As Senator he would be on TV all the time calling their BS. I don't see it as leaving the air.

11. So this is why he soft-pedaled the (second) hijacked election?
When we NEEDED those voices showing spine for the American people and the American system. His silence suggests that, as a representative, he will go along to get along.

"He's an entertainer." That's how I like him. My expectations are lower since Nov. 2004.
