When do you think Bush will give up his SS plan?? |
|
We all know that is one thing he wants to do this term for his wall street friends. When do you think he'll give up the plan? I'm glad the democrats are fighting on this because we can't let him get rid of that program. Bush is a very stubborn person so I think he won't ever give it up since he doesn't care about what the public wants. Only what he wants.

He'll tell us how he talked to real, hand-picked, loyalty-oathed Americans, and 100% of the people he met at his town hall meetings were behind his initiative. And therefore, he's going ahead with it anyway, despite the obviously biased liberal-media poll numbers. And then he'll blame the democrats for all his problems.

...that lays open a path to privatization no matter what that might be, even if it is nothing but a willingness to consider privatization as an option. That leaves a lot of wiggle room for democrats IMHO.
For example, Obama at a conference earlier this week suggested that very thing and I don't have the exact suggestion he made, but he said something to the effect of addressing the solvency issue and NOT lowering benefits by increasing the SS contribution ceiling to $300,000 but allowing those who could afford it after a set amount is paid toward the SS fund to invest anything over that in the equivalent of 401K's or IRAs or the like. Now, the concept sounds like it might have merit, and if they run the numbers out on it and the numbers say everyone wins in some way, then great, there is a proposal that can be considered. Bush's plan is to deplete SS by 40% and we all know that will hurt millions of people.

He is single minded when it comes to issues. Like a three year old, he has to have his way.

I just wish the media weren't so compliant in reporting on this issue, but what can be expected? A bunch of overpaid millionaires all talking to each other about the expected pittance they'll receive from social security relative to their fat pensions and investments. None of them are going to be dependent on social security (or at least they surely don't expect they'll need it to survive).
So why not plunder that huge pile of money for their own purposes? It's just going to a bunch of poor people!
