Fallout from Salazar's comment to Dobson
Yesterday Senator Ken Salazar made a public statement that Dr. James Dobson was the anti-Christ. Later he clarified his remark, saying he meant that Dobson was un-Christian.

Salazar deserves great praise for standing up and speaking truth to the dark, dangerous power that is James Dobson and his extremest group "Focus on the Family". But I suspect there will be intense fallout.

The Radical Cleric Dobson will likely have his Fundamentalist Extremest followers plot and work daily to destroy Salazar. I think it is reasonable to expect a non-stop siege from now until his next election.

People of Reason need to band together and support Salazar as he endures the attacks of these dangerous extremists.

1. Salazar is the "Canary in a coalmine"
He is representative of why we are going to take the west. People there are more libertarian republican than the brand of conservativism Dobson and his RW neanderthal's are spewing. As these people try and use the institutions of government to force their RW christianity on everyone else, the voters in these states will increasingly look to the Democratic Party to fight for their personal freedom. Salazar is simply representing where his constituency is!

I predict we will, at a minimum, take Montana, Nevada, Arizona, New Maxico, and Colorado in the next Presidential election.

5. yeah, I've never seen anyone on here say that before
Most midwest republicans are libritarian republicans and southernern repubs are more likely to be religious repubs. I think we can be at least as libritarian as the republicans.

As for Salazar's remarks - I'm not sure he should have said that. He's painted a huge target on his back. I hope he can back up what he has said if he has too.

6. Last night I sent him documentation supporting his claim about Dobson
After seeing what happened, and knowing what is to come, last night I emailed Salazar the documentation supporting his claim that Dobson is un-Christian. This was followed up with a faxes to his offices. I wanted him to have the ammunition when he came into the office this morning. Here is the letter I faxed him:

April 27, 2005

Senator Ken Salazar
702 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510

RE: Supporting Documentation for Your Claim that Dr. James Dobson’s Agenda is un-Christian

Dear Senator Salazar:

Thank you for calling Dr. James Dobson on his most un-Christian agenda. It's about time someone pointed this out.

If you would like extensive documentation to support your claim that Dobson’s agenda is in fact un-Christian, I would refer you to a detailed essay by Katherine Yurica on this topic.

Bloodguilty Churches: Why Bush’s Agenda Is Immoral and an Abomination to God
http://www.yuricareport.com/Religion/TheBloodGuiltyChurches.html

excerpt: "George W. Bush, his administration, the Republican controlled congress as well as the Republican Party itself, and most of the churches in America (including evangelical, Southern Baptist, Pentecostal and Roman Catholic), stand indicted—not by men—not by this writer—but by the very Holy Scriptures the religious-right and Mr. Bush profess to uphold. Weighed against the Bible, the Bush actions are not only morally corrupt—they are unchristian and unbiblical to the core. In this essay, the Bush agenda is weighed on the scale of God’s standards and it is found wanting."

This essay has also been published in a shortened version as a pdf file.

Congressional Handbook: To Inform Congress of What the Bible Says About Mr. Bush’s Agenda and Adminstration Policies
http://www.yuricareport.com/Congress/CongressionalHandbook.pdf

I have included a few pages from these essays to give you a feel for the material. I hope this information will be useful to you in refuting the attacks from Dobson and his allies that are sure to come. Thank you again for speaking truth to the dangerous power that is Dobson and his organization.

Best Regards,

2. Salazar has already held his own against the fundyfascists
Edited on Thu Apr-28-05 12:41 PM by leftofthedial
he's been battling them for years on their own turf.

It will beinteresting to see how the tactics change now that the battle has moved to new terrain.

I'm not, on balance, a Salazar fan, but I admire him for this principled and moral stand.

3. So they can go after his wife
But he can't lash out passionately as any husband might do. Great sense of family values those Dobsonites have going. Bastards!

4. Dobson: acting fakely like a psychologist; a HYPOCHRISTIAN
HE HAS A PHD IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT, BEST i KNOW BUT I NEED TO CHECK ON THAT; THIS MEANS HE IS NOT A CLINICAL PERSON BUT RATHER THAT IT IS AN ACADEMIC DEGREE; IF THIS IS TRUE HE DOESN'T NEED TO BE 'PRACTICING' AS THOUGH HE IS A CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST.
