Democratic Group tells Reid to oppose PATRIOT III (HR418) or Resign
And the resolution was passed unanimsously. There are a lot of angry Democrats out there who won't forgive this obliteration of the Constitution.

RESOLUTION FOR HARRY REID TO STOP PATRIOT III (AKA THE REAL ID ACT, THE REAL DEATH CAMP ACT, HR 418) OR RESIGN

WHEREAS, Harry Reid ignored the wishes of millions of Democrats throughout America and led the Senate Democrats in backing John Negroponte, a man connected to death squads that killed nuns and children in Central America; Reid also ignored concerns about Yucca Mountain when he backed Samuel Bodman as Secretary of Energy, ignored concerns about Michael Chertoff’s support for water-board torture, when he backed Chertoff for Secretary of Homeland Security, and ignored Condoleezza Rice’s false statements that helped leads to a war that killed over 1300 Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians, when Reid backed Rice for Secretary of State, and

WHEREAS, Harry Reid put the interests of the credit card companies ahead of the welfare of the elderly, the disabled, children, the unemployed, and those in need of medical attention when he voted for the bankruptcy bill, and

WHEREAS, Harry Reid has stated that the Real ID Act (aka Patriot III, the Real Death Camp Act, HR 418), a law that guts the Constitution by placing the Secretary of Homeland Security above the Constitution and the law, endangers the health, safety and very lives of all Americans, effectively ends all future grants of political asylum and creates the basis for a national ID card, similar to the ones issued in NAZI Germany,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Patrick Henry Democratic Club calls on Harry Reid to stop backing the extremist policies of George W. Bush, a man committed to destroying the Constitution and to establishing an aristocracy and calls on Harry Reid instead to protect the American people from the kind of tyranny and terrorism planned by George W. Bush and the Republicans.

THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Patrick Henry Democratic Club calls on Harry Reid to mount a successful opposition to the Real ID Act (aka Patriot III, the Real Death Camp Act, HR 418) or to resign his Senate leadership position and back one of the Democratic Senators who has shown the courage to oppose the Bush agenda for minority leader.

Passed unanimously on April 26, 2005.

4. This part...
"Real ID Act (aka Patriot III, the Real Death Camp Act, HR 418)"

...will get the entirety of this petition summarily dismissed. If you are going to write a UN-style security resolution legalese document, you don't throw in cutesy aka and nickname stuff.

5. IMO
Now is the time that we need to be most UNITED. Not saying I agree or am even happy about some things BUT to be divided is to give over whatever bit of power we have... In my humble opinion.

8. Here is their link. The Patrick Henry Democratic Club does great work.
They are on top of all the issues and they are keeping close track of the Congressional votes. This is one of the leading edge groups. I'm surprised you haven't heard of them.

Here it is:

9. Keep them accountable. We should all stand up like Patrick Henry.
What good are leaders if they won't lead? Why support a Democrat if he won't vote Democrat? We need leaders who will lead and not cower to the Republicans. If Reid doesn't oppose the Real ID Act, let's replace him with Durbin or Boxer.

11. Durbin's got a better voting record. Who needs an anti-choice leader?

Not only do women's groups dislike Reid, now he is upsetting the NAACP and MALDEF. Pretty soon, the Democratic Party will look like a third party if they don't dumpt Reid. I think all our leaders should prove they're worth the money we're paying them.
