I have been listening to Counterspin. They do a rap-up of all the weeks news. One thing they mentioned is that Rush Limbaugh made the comment that the federal government spends the same amount of money on the environment as it does on the Defense Department and Homeland Security combined. I know many of Limbaughs listeners would believe this, but you have to be stupid the believe something like this.
Just so you know Limbaugh misquoted an anti-environmentalist who took a tally of all the federal and state money spent on the environment. So the person (the anti-environmentalist) was saying that the federal government and state governments put together spend the same amount of money on the environment as the federal spends on the Defense Department and Homeland Security combined. Limbaugh claimed that the federal government along spends the same amount of money on the environment as it does on the Defense Department and Homeland Security combined. The federal government actually spends many times more on the Defense Department and Homeland Security as it does on the environment.

Limbaugh is claaiming that the Gov spends as much on the environment as it does on HS and Defense combined. And, yes, only an idiot could swallow that. But who do I suppose listen to Limbaugh . . . ?

I've heard that bullshit from them before. I think it's some economic chimera based on the gross amount that American individuals, corporations, non-profits, and the government spend on the environment in the aggregate, versus some weirdly minimalist assessment of the amount spent on defense and HS.
A big bunch o' crap.
