Karl Rove: GOP will be 'in charge for a generation'....
Speaking to a group of supporters in Ohio yesterday...

Rove's blueprint for winning elections still emphasizes traditional values, education, low taxes and a word he stressed Monday - compassion.

"We defend time-tested values," Rove said, adding that the Republican Party is determined to reform and update 20th century programs such as Social Security that will be confronted by demographic upheavals in the decades ahead.

It's considered a tragic flaw in literary characters. Real life characters too.

26. This was also my response to this thread's headline
In the last election they also had access to the central tabulators -- and they could change the vote totals at will. It just takes a few extra votes here and there and magic the GOPigs win.

39. Until we hit the streets, you mean?
I don't know. I think that a lot of people are mad. I know many folks who are angry enough to march but feel as though no one else is as mad.

People who express anger to me usually get a list of sites, such as this one, that I recommend to them. I am trying to convey that they are not alone.

DU has been a lifesaver to me. I know that there are other folks like me who are angry and ready to march and take back the country from Diebold.

We just have to link these folks in to the internets and also through meetups and such.

I think that a march is in order - the sooner, the better. A march so big that not even the corporate media can ignore it.

8. Ozymandias
Edited on Tue May-03-05 02:29 PM by 74dodgedart
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

PERCY BYSSHE SHELLEY (1792-1822)

..... you have lived in shit, talked shit, eaten shit, and spread shit for
years ........ someday that shit will catch up to you.

Remember your dirty tricks mentor?, Lee Atwater? He died with
a brain tumor screaming in pain and begging Mike Dukais to forgive him.
Mike did.

I for one will ever have a hard time forgiving you. A good days work
would kill you.

Tell me again about Miami County, Ohio where they had precincts w/
99.7% turn outs. And the extra 20,000 votes that came in after the
voting was over @ exactly the same ratio as the earlier vote.

People know the truth Karl.

13. I think so too.
Fortunately for me, I'll outlive this generation. By the time the "next generation" rolls around, I'll only be 35-40 years old, which, coincidently, is the perfect age for new politicians to start running for office ;)

Unfortunately, I think we're stuck with a Republican majority until then. I don't see anything that's going to change it.

though there were more than 12 (as stated in this report in the Cincinnati Enquirer)

I really thought more would be out to protest, since there were places to park and places to stand. People were there from about 4:30 to 6:00 -- everyday drivers occassionally honked. Most of the people attending just shook their heads.

21. Let's subpoena all WH records where Gannon/Guckert met with Rove
Can we figure out a way to do that? We need phone records, notes of meetings, etc. And for all those days when Gannon/Guckert checked into the WH and did not check out, let's see Rove's entrance/exit records as well. Rove has a military fetish, right? He's always dressing Bush up in those military outfits.

I don't know about the gullibility of the average American voter. I know quite a bit about the ruthlessness of the current GOP leadership, including Rove.

However, given the deficits, debt and demographics, Bush, Rove and company could face a perfect storm of economic problems that could make the last 30 years look like a day at the beach.

36. Dream On, Karl
You'll be going down in history as the manager of the lowest politics ever witnessed in the United States. In fact, I'm guessing in 10-20 years or so, the expression "Rovian" will be a household word for conniving, misleading and double-speak. The Bush administration years will be viewed as the time when America lost its mind, much like the Hitler era in Germany. I hope you're proud of your accomplishments.

Odd how _saying_ "compassion" brings compassion to mind, yet when I look at the person saying it, quite the opposite fills my sight.

If he's compassionate, if they're compassionate, I'm Elmer Fudd. I own a mansion and a yacht.

I've been reading Bhuddist literature, and the misappropriation of the word is even sillier.

When will we be able to take these words away from them?

41. So tell me, what is he SUPPOSED to say?
The speech that's the truth: "Guys, we are so fucked. Everyone knows the shit we've been pulling over the last eight years. They know there's no WMD. They know Osama and Saddam are not interrelated. They know there's a map of Iraq in Vice President Cheney's oil policy document, and they know the state of the economy. If you want to be represented by a Republican in 2011, start shopping for houses in Idaho now."

No, no. These people paid sixty Yankee dollars to eat a five-dollar meal. Why spoil their dinner? Let them have their little fantasy for now. In 2007, when we've got 60 seats in the Senate, a majority in the House and nine Republican senators pissed off enough at the BFEE to cross party lines during the impeachment hearing, the reality bat's gonna whack them in the back of the head real hard.
