Tom Ridge on The Daily Show Tonight: Worst Interviewee Ever! But...

On edit: to be fair, Jon REALLY tried to make Ridge interesting, but it was like pushing a bolder up a mountain.

1. How dumb is this guy?

I did not live in PA until just a few years ago, so I have no knowledge of him as governor.

but from the first time I saw and heard him, I was amazed at how truly dumb as a stick the guy is. The lights are on, but no one's home.

The best thing one can say about him is that although he is an example of an incompetent being promoted by His Chimperial Highness, that he is not one of the many evil such appointees.

Jon -- who is a total mensch and utter sweetie pie -- was actually rougher on him than he is most guests (even the evil ones). Jon gently continued to stick his nose on the wet spot on the rug saying "Did you do that?" when he kept pressing the point about how oddly timed the terra alerts were. Ridge didn't have a good explanation for it, and Jon, in is fashion, never let him off the hook. RARELY does he give anyone a bad time. I can remember only one other occasion -- some college republican type who'd written a book about the threat of Iraq, which Jon politely chided him for it being made up sensationalist bullshit.
