The dilemma for Democrats... |
|
...is that they may have the best message and the best policies for the people of this country but they don't have the best marketing or propaganda. There is no doubt in my mind that the policies of Bill Clinton were much better for the vast majority of Americans than are the policies of George W Bush. Yet, the people are buying bullshit.
The dilemma for Democrats is how do they get their message out without it being drowned out by the Republican Propaganda Machine? It doesn't matter what the Democrats say or do - the Repubs have found a way to counter everything with lies or misconceptions or distortions of the truth. They are not held accountable. They have mastered the concept of half-truths.
The dilemma for Democrats is how do they reach the people under the present circumstances? Is it possible?

1. We have to use the same tactics as our enemies. |
|
A big problem with our side is the unwillingness to get our hands dirty. They throw a ton of mud to get a pound to stick. It always works for them because the sheeple don't remember the 2000 lbs. that washed away.
We need to throw 2 tons. The rules of the game are that the whole truth isn't relevant to the outcome and that no one is punished for exaggeration and hyperbole. Until we understand that and play be the real world rules, we'll continue to get beat by imbeciles like Rove and Bush.

2. The dilemma for Democrats is |
|
that they are beholden to the same corporate interests that elect the Repukes and control the media.
Message, smessage. Since the Repukes took over Congress, the Democratic message has been "me too."
Until the Democrats take off their pink tutus, there will be no 'message.'
This is a John Wayne, get tough, shoot now and ask questions later society. "Me too" will never work. That's the first message the Democrats need to learn. And they need to learn that the fight now is larger than their various factions. If they do that, the 'message' will follow.

4. The dilemma for Republicans... |
|
...is that Americans are getting SICK and F-n Tired of them -- period!
By 2006, Democrats, Independents and semi-sane Rethugs will be vomiting their brains out looking for change. :puke:
By 2008, the pendulum will be completely in the Democrat's favor.
You have to first start believing it will happen, and secondly, do everything in your power to make it happen.
Their day is coming. You'll see. :toast:

6. Ummm, perhaps you haven't noticed, |
|
but The People DIDN'T vote for the Repubs in 2000, 2002 or 2004. However, they took office.
The People, nor their votes no longer matter. Didn't you get the memo?

5. They should be the party of empathy. Hate seems to build coalitions.. |
|
but it has to be stirred. If they go with empathy.. they will attract the religious who truly read the bible. As well as those who follow the mystical & personal form of Christianity known as Protestantism (as opposed to the literal kind).
And the extreme right wing religious will keep killing off followers for not being exacting & hateful enough (ie being human and thinking in the shades of grey).
I was reading up on Egyptian Islamism. That is my model now for the USA. Can you believe that?
The religious who truly believe.. who truly have found grace.. they know what grace is.
As opposed to the paid coalition of sociopaths and opportunist currently at the helm of politics. That is so shallow. It will not do well over the long term. Because it is not human. They can keep coming up with new scapegoats or retiring and then bringing out the old ones. That is no 'lasting establishment'. That requires that you up the anti to keep it 'sharp'. And since Rove is limited by not abusing human rights at home.. on the whole...he cannot renew the scapegoats by upping the anti and making it appealing to adolescent thinkers..
It will get old sooner than it did under Hitler.
Seems odd that human being are so vulnerable to following the emotional dances put out there by the nefarious. That that is where we are. Somehow?
