Renew your support for "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" on MSNBC
Others, like crispini (who I have ruthlessly plagiarized below), have posted warning that MSNBC may be considering moving Olbermann's Countdown from prime time on the East Coast and Central Time Zones. This key threat to the diversity of stories covered om a major mainstream media outlet is being dismissed by some as just a rumor.

This is a serious threat to the public discourse. Several speakers at the National Conference for Media Reform have repeated this concern and have asked for our action NOW!

Contact MSNBC now and with frequency!

By email:
feedback@msnbc.com

countdown@msnbc.com

And/or by regular mail:
MSNBC TV
One MSNBC Plaza
Secaucus, N.J. 07094

Here is a sample email:

Please don't move "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" out of prime time. I am one of the viewers who recently found "Countdown" in its current time slot, and it is viewers like me who have raised "Countdown" to its position as one of the highest rated shows on MSNBC. I will not be able to watch the show as consistently if it airs after prime time.

Your viewer,

THERE IS EVERY REASON TO BELIEVE OUR SUPPORT CAN EFFECT THE SCHEDULING DECISION. MOREOVER, EVEN IF IT'S A RUMOR, WE MUST SHOW OUR STRENGTH BY SUPPORTING "COUNTDOWN" WHICH HAS CONSISTENTLY GIVEN AIR TIME TO ISSUES -- LIKE ELECTION FRAUD AND REFORM -- IGNORED BY THE REST OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA!

12. True.
I just meant that flooding the network with paper is more effective that *just* an email - but, sure, doing both is fantastic!

9. If everyone (me included) who bitches about mainstream media's biased
story selection would just take 30 seconds to get behind "Countdown" -- one mainstream media outlet consistently giving prime time coverage to otherwise under-reported stories -- we can make a difference.

15. My letter to MSNBC - will follow up with snail mail
I wish I had the words to tell you how much I enjoy Keith Olbermann and Countdown each night at 8 pm. Olbermann is like a drink of cool clear water in the middle of an oasis of corporate shilling by most major news networks. I never miss Keith but just in case I always TiVo so I won't miss the opportunity to hear the real news on all of the stories going on in the world today.

Right now the Internet blogging world is rife with rumors that MSNBC is considering moving Countdown from its 8 pm Monday thru Friday slot. I hope this is just a rumor but on the chance it isn't...ARE YOU GUYS CRAZY? Bona fide, loony tunes, around the bend nutso? The biggest mistake MSNBC could ever make is moving Countdown from its recognized, enjoyed and appreciated time slot. The only way YOU could make this show any better is if you extended the show to two hours. That would be a good start, then get the hell out of the way and let Keith do his job.

Please tell me it ain't so. I've sucked it up and come to terms with the idea that the same network that I so admire for giving Countdown and Olbermann a voice is the same dumb ass one that has signed Tucker Carlson to do something, sometime (hopefully the 3 am shift - but no matter, I WILL NOT WATCH THIS GUY) for the same network. That is like comparing apples to rotten tomatoes, King of the World to low life scum ball, honest to goodness newsman to a GOP parrot. Well, you get the idea. One quick question - who the heck is Carlson kin to that he just keeps getting news jobs after countless cancellations? He needs to be at the local Dairy Queen learning (extended training no doubt required) how to make blizzards but not on any network with more than two viewers (his Mom and Dad?).

If this is just a rumor, please set everyone straight. If you are actually considering this reckless course take your meds, drink plenty of fluids, gets lots of rest and don't make any decisions until sanity returns. The viewing public will let you keep the other 23 hours a day to screw up news reporting but leave Olbermann and Countdown alone.

Sincerely,

16. This doesn't make any sense
The only thing that I view on sludges site is the tv cable rankings and Keith has moved up from 300,000 viewers to 500,000. Why would they move him now?

18. Obviously, MSNBC cares for Countdown, or they wouldn't spend MUCHO money
putting huge signs up all over NYC, like this one on 34th St. and 7th Avenue, right across the street from Macy's:

(Sorry for the bad quality — I took that with my cellphone yesterday with the light hitting the sign.)
