1. Nominated! Everyone should see this turning point in * propaganda |
|
This tactic has worn way too thin, but Rove's down to the bottom of his bag of slimy tricks and can't stop doing the same old things, even when they stop working and everyone is willing to say so out loud.
Some great moments in TV journalism here, with an historic feel to them.

4. Short version: KO says that something smells about this story. |
|
Newsweek's source was a government official.
The story had been reported in other publications, worldwide.
The White House got the government official to change his story, then jumped all over Newsweek in a big, big way, blaming them for the deaths in the riots with high-profile interviews with Scott McClellan that they offered to the networks, even though their own Chairman of the Joint Chiefs had said that the violence was not due to Newsweek's article.
His guests shook their heads at how brazenly the White House was trying to hype the notion that Newsweek was the source of a completely false story that ended up causing lethal riots, when everyone knows that the stories are true, that they come from sources within the U.S. government and military, and that they've been corroborated by eyewitnesses.
Again, KO said "something smells" about this story, and his incredulity and that of his guests was on full display. They were practically indignant at the bullshit.

8. Didn't you watch the video? |
|
Newsweek said, "Based on what we know now, we are retracting our original story..."
Gosh, I wonder what they "know now".

I'm at work, without the video plugin on this computer.
Thanks.
Hm, I hope they explain that statement. Or come out with a new and improved story.

12. Sorry, I was being a bit sarcastic. Not to *you*... |
|
...but my cynical reasoning might have been clearer if you had seen it, which I wrongly assumed you did.
Sorry.

3. Even they talk about the link between this and the CBS memos. Heartening |
|
to see they aren't fooling everybody. Time for media to get some balls and expose this administration for the fools and crooks they are.

7. Just watched the video. Does anyone know who the "government source" is? |
|
The one who gave Newsweek the information in the first place? I have yet to hear who that was.

9. This IS The News I Was Talking About |
|
when I posted an early thread today. I was trying to make a point that maybe, just maybe the tide is turning a little!
Further saying that this shit will have to stop SOMETIME, nothing goes on forever. Regardless of what consequences the fallout will bring, and this is truly sad for those in the Middle East.... how can you ACTUALLY remain blameless over and over and over!
We can only hope that a tiny portion of their LIES, OBSTRUCTIONISM and CORRUPTION will begin smacking them in the face.
When the boomerang starts it's revolution, it will travel on it's own course and return to whop you up side your head!
Is it time YET????? Baby steps, baby steps!

going to be a good look at the media and the White House, it seems.
I'm so glad I listen to Shortwave. Yesterday, Radio Netherlands reported that the Pentagon source had been "pressured" to back off his story; they also described Condi as the head of the NSC, as the architect of the failed Iraq foray. That was music to my ears.

14. What the hell is wrong with newsweek!??!? What a bunch of dopes! |
|
They cave, just like that? I saw the interview with the editor, he sounded like Rove had his children held at gunpoint and was blabbing away, towing the line...saying he was sorry ( for WHAT I don't know )...outrageous!!
