WASHINGTON – RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman announced that tonight’s RNC gala is expected to set a non-federal election year record by raising more than $15 million for the RNC to continue broadening and deepening the Republican Party. President Bush will deliver remarks to the gala’s expected 1,500 attendees. The Spinners and Ricky Skaggs will perform.
“The RNC Gala’s record success indicates widespread support for President Bush and enthusiasm for the Republican agenda,” said Mehlman.
The RNC received $32.3 million in contributions from January through March 2005, a fundraising record for the first quarter of a non-presidential election year. The RNC raised more money in the first quarter of this year than in the first quarter of 2002, the last year it was able to raise non-federal dollars. The RNC reported $26.2 million cash-on-hand at the end of March after raising $10.7 million that month.
The RNC received 715,000 contributions through March, with an average gift of $45.14. More than 68,200 new donors contributed to the RNC through March.
