I'm going to take the liberty of posting an "action" item from a dKos Diary by densityland:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/5/19/193221/013Eliminating the filibuster is radical. So the right's new trick is to call their proposal an "Up or Down." Surely you can't object to a simple, up or down vote?
Idaho Republican Senator Larry Craig is using this tactic in a poll on his site. It's political theatre...
I think it'd be cool if - on this Republican Senator's very own site, his poll came up showing NO support for the bogus "up or down vote" option. I'm imagining many many Kos posters voting NO on the question, "Do you think all the President's judicial nominees should have an up-or-down vote in the Senate?"
Here's some trivia about Craig to inspire you. He once held up "400 Air Force promotions, demanding that four transport planes be delivered to his state's National Guard."
And he's also been involved in, not one, not two, but 13 filibusters himself.
After the prominent role filibustering played in his storied political career, I'd sure hate to see him relinquish his cherished tactic.
So no, NO - NO on bogus "up or down" votes.
Unfortunately, no instant gratification since we can't see the results until their next "issue". So, bookmark the page for about a week and if anybody remembers, remind us by posting the results.
