It's time for the Democrats to take Specter up on his offer... |
|
To release all our members to vote their conscience and to challenge the Republican leadership to do the same. Senator Harry Reid said today that several Repubican Senators had come up to him and told him they agreed with his position but they had to follow the wishes of their Leadership. I don't see a whole lot of other options.

1. I'd agree with that. I do have one question though.... |
|
Other than their constituents emailing them and demanding that they vote against these nominees, what's binding them to vot in a block now?

Even McCain, who was giving near tirades against the nuke a few weeks ago, seems to be caving.
God help us all.

5. So what's either Reid or Frist saying they're releasing them going to |
|
to to change that? Sure, I understand the $$ and the special interest groups putting pressure on both sides of this issue. That's not what I asked.
Why would it make any difference if each Party leader released each Senator and said vote your concience. That insinuates that they are totally under Party rule! I didn't think that wsa true for ALL of them!

By putting forth such an idea with hopes that it will divide the Repubs and hopefully get a few to come to their senses and also to put the leadership on the spot. Think chess.... :)

It's just gone too far...let them play their game of chicken, and in the end, they'll drive their car off the cliff.

Shouldn't we try to stop it? Maybe it won't be all that bad?

6. Hmm last time I looked |

the politicians worked for US and not their Leadership. We're in a republic and not a theocracy or dictatiorship. It's PRESIDENT Bush and NOT King George Bush. Maybe these people should realize that? Hmm, nah. They're scared pussy's.

That number says everything we need to know about the Republican McSenators. They are drones for the Queen B.

So that's what senators are elected to do these days? Silly me, I thought they were supposed to follow the wishes of their constituents.
