How "freedom" became part of the Bush lexicon ? |
|
It was not always so. "Freedom" is a rather new word in his vocabulary. We can imagine how it came about:
Rove: "Dubya, they still haven't found those WMDs that we said Saddam had...and I don't how much longer we can keep that lie going...?"
Dubya: "Well, Karl, what do you suggest we do? I've already used about every lie in my quiver..."
Rove: "Well, we can always say that we are bringing "freedom" to the Middle East and that is why we went into Iraq. Also, you need to think of your legacy..Do you want to be remembered as the president that lied us into a war? Or do you want your legacy to be one that spread "freedom" into the Middle East? Everywhere you go and every speech you give, you should mention "freedom". That will be your legacy rather than the "lies" to get us into war. The people will buy it because the press will print and say just what we tell them. They are a sorry lot. Just remember to say "freedom"....OK?

1. He uses it in the plural - freedoms ... makes me nuts! People have picked |
|
up on it, too. Freedoms. Protecting freedoms. Giving freedoms. Iraqi freedoms. Our freedoms.
A little *ushism that just drives me crazy! I want my freedom ... all in one bag (or word) not 'freedoms' - like walking through a market picking between all the different freedoms on sale!
Sorry, rant off!

2. He actually used to say: "they hate us fro our FREEDOM" often.. |
|
before they found out there were no WMD.
But they started with the Democracy talk and using freedom in that context later. Yes. Switch & bait because the little neocon dreamworld came crashing down on them much too soon.
