Media Control... The Masses are Not Happy!!!!
Lost in The Disinformation Society, The Masses are Not Happy
20 May 2005

Last Wednesday I posted a piece about Grover Norquist and the Republican control of the media aka “The Republican Noise Machine.” Yesterday in his speech on the Senate floor, John Kerry referred to the right-wing’s control of the media, “We have an Administration that continues to want to fund fake newscasts to mislead people all across America.”

"The Administration’s willingness to consistently abandon the truth has done great damage. Americans are less willing to listen – less likely to trust or take anything that is said in Washington seriously."

The battle for the hearts and minds of America has taken a great toll. We’re inundated with fake news, mis-reported news and a grave lack coverage of some news. Yesterday MSNBC reported Voters dissatisfied with Bush, Congress. That story quickly got buried by other news, lest we find out that an NBC/WSJ poll reveals 'angry electorate'.

1. In the meantime, people are starting to wise up
a little. Pox News has lost 58% of their viewers. Yes, people are getting very angry, and are starting to realize that the world under the GOP is a shitty place, not because of libruls or black welfare mothers or gay men who want to marry or any of that other stuff. They're strating to figure out that their wages don't buy as much as they used to and they're not getting raises and that their jobs are under threat from cheaper workers from China because the chief executives are looting their companies.

It's about time, but yes, the electorate is starting to get incredibly angry. Pretty soon they'll start to suspect that maybe the GOP didn't win the election, after all.

2. The GOP has Stalin's playbook ...
and they've not yet begun to really use it.

4. True but

don't you think Americans are a little less vulnerable to all that stuff than Hitler-era Germans? I'm not sure those tactics will work as well here in the US. To a degree, yes, they have already worked but when Americans start getting skeptical, it's hard to turn them around. I'm starting to feel optimistic that we are at a point like that now. JMO.

Oops, I don't know why I thought you were talking Hitler, not Stalin....I read-read your post. But still....

3. Can Democrats capitalize
People are unhappy with Republicans, but so far Democrats only have a slight edge. Between now and 2006 we need to turn this anger towards Washington into a desire to vote for Democrats. Simply having Democratic candidates running should help somewhat, but more needs to be done to overcome the Republican's advantages from incumbency.
