The War on Terror?

The most important stories haven't been about what was done to us, but what we have done to ourselves and others. We are throwing the Constitution, the Bible, the Bill of Rights, the Geneva Convention and pretty much anything else Americans have believed in right into the old latrine along with the Koran.

Guantanomo, Abu Grahib, Agram, may someday be names right along side of Auschwitz and the Hanoi Hilton, but they are of our own creation. Is anyone in charge ? Is there any oversight at all? Are we hellishly incompetent or or we just evil? Aren't we supposed to be the good guys? Can we "support our troops" without supporting torture? Can any good at all come of this misadventure?

There has been suspension of rights, of due process, and of basic humanity . We read torture memos, torture excuses, torture cover-ups. "Backward and barbaric" . . . . Tell me again who Bush was talking about.
