White House Wins Again.on Newsweek's Back...................
They are brilliantly diabolical.

1. Blame Newsweek for increased violence.
2. Which effectively squelches any further investigative journalism. Who would run a fact-finding story now? NO ONE
3. Continue with Qu'ran desecration.

1. i listened to part of Chris Mathews tonight and he was agreeing
with the WH--said Newsweek got it wrong. But the substance (the actual abuse of the Koran)--was not discussed--such as the Red Cross verification and the soldier who got disciplined for mishandling the Koran.

3. Yes, it is the most obvious question - "Is it happening?"
What is weird that they, TV journalists, sincerely act like they never even thought of the question "Is it true?" It is almost like someone has taken control over their minds.

6. Newsweek did not get it wrong and this weeks Newsweek goes into detail
They explained fully exactly how it happened and what the repercussions were from the publication and why. It was quiet enlightening and certainly not a kowtow to the Administration.

The State Dept. says so.

Afghan Riots Not Tied to Report on Quran Handling, General Says
Army investigating allegations of mishandling at Guantanamo Bay facility

By Jacquelyn S. Porth
Washington File Staff Writer

Washington – The chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff says a report from Afghanistan suggests that rioting in Jalalabad on May 11 was not necessarily connected to press reports that the Quran might have been desecrated in the presence of Muslim prisoners held in U.S. custody at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Air Force General Richard Myers told reporters at the Pentagon May 12 that he has been told that the Jalalabad, Afghanistan, rioting was related more to the ongoing political reconciliation process in Afghanistan than anything else.

According to initial reports, the situation in Jalalabad began on May 10 with peaceful student protests reacting to a report in Newsweek magazine that U.S. military interrogators questioning Muslim detainees at the Guantanamo detention center “had placed Quran s on toilets, and in at least one case flushed a holy book.” By the following day the protests in the city had turned violent with reports of several individuals killed, dozens wounded, and widespread looting of government, diplomatic and nongovernmental assets.

However, Myers said an after-action report provided by U.S. Army Lieutenant General Karl Eikenberry, commander of the Combined Forces in Afghanistan, indicated that the political violence was not, in fact, connected to the magazine report.

4. You are right. Just think, if Newsweek had immediately demanded
that the administration be accountable and ask them to say flat out - True or False. Demand an investigation by an independent prosecutor.

Media deabtes journalistic standards. Newsweek stand there with the collective ***k in their collective ahnds, looking colelctively like chumps

8. Even the BBC was screwing up
They were saying that the information that the Qu'ran was being desecrated was retracted when the truth is that only the details of the attribution was retracted.

I'm VERY disappointed in the BBC.

:wtf: :wtf:
