I think Dean is doing great, especially explaining all those out of context quotes he's asked to clarify!

26. actually, he worked as a congressional aide to Daniel Patrick Moynihan. |
|
Moynihan was a bit of a hawk foreign policy wise, but definitely a Dem.
I'm just sayin'.

|
Not so. He may have been a screw-up on this interview.. But Tim Russert is NOT a Republican.
But wow.. I'm glad I missed MTP this morning! It came on here at 7:00 a.m. and I turned it on long enough to hear part of the introduction.. then....
:boring: ZZzzzZZZZzzzzzZZzz..
Next thing I knew.. it was 8:30 a.m.. Guess I need to go to bed earlier?

34. Russert is worse than a Republican; he's a GOP hack |
|
Anyone who watched Tim during Lewinsky, or has heard him fill in for Rush Limbaugh, or has observed how he NEVER asks a follow-up question of, say, a Cheney or Bush, but comes loaded for bear with video clips and quotes that he relentlessly attacks Democrats wih.
By a CONSERVATIVE estimation, Russert played the "I did not have sexual relations" clip of Clinton at least 200 times. Has he ever done anything similar for Smirk?
Don't be fooled. Russert is as much the the enemy as Britt Hume is.

He was attending the Springsteen concert looking like he was feeling no pain.
Haven't watched MTP in years. I can't stand even looking at the man. It's the same feeling I get when AWOL comes on the TV - click.

19. Dean answered clearly |
|
If someone has a problem with him saying DeLay should be in Tex. where he can serve jail time after he explained by reading from a list of instances where DeLay broke the law according to acts he has performed, then we can never win. The Repubs will answer those type of questions by going Off Story and drag up stuff that has nothing to do with the question and repeated over and over. Sheesh. Dean explained clearly and without hysteria and shouting his reasoning. Definitely good enough for me. Would it be better if he had done the usual dribble and say nothing like so many Dems in congress that we fume about?
Dean is made as hell at DeLay and how all that is being swept under the rug. Did his remarks not get media attention? How many repubs can say honestly that Delay is innocent, they can't, they only say "everyone does it." We all know he sent FAA people on a mission to retrieve Tex. legislators that had left the State. Dean was right on that one too.

as if Meet the Fucking Potato was a forum for "detailed plans."
as if Russert would allow any sort of discussion of "detailed plans."
he just wanted to put Dean on defense. He'd never pull this shit with Mehlman.

Actually I didn't like him so much during the campaign (at least what we were able to see about the campaign here in Europe) but I think he was really impressive on MtP; very focused and on message, rebutting all of Russert's attacks.

|
Edited on Sun May-22-05 10:10 AM by G2099
Give me a break. Since when did "political" mockery become inappropriate?
Dean was making political and moral mockery, not medical mockery as a doctor.
Little Timmy, sure is nit-picking.

seriously. He should have laughed out loud at him and said "Give it up, Timmy! Limbaugh is a big fat hypocrite about drug abuse and the crocodile tears in your questions are simply enabling his further abuse and hypocrisy."

17. Russert's lie about judicial nominees |
|
Edited on Sun May-22-05 02:11 PM by dansolo
Did you hear Tim slip in a statement that implied that numbers were the same between Clinton's judicial nominations and Bush's? That appears to be the new talking point, in order to counter the 95% number that the Democrats keep bringing up. But Howard fell for it, and he agreed with Tim. He probably didn't even realize what it was that he was agreeing with. I love Howard Dean, but he was not prepared for this interview at all.

20. How typical -- Dean blew it, so you blame Russert |
|
What exactly did Dean expect? That Russert would spend the hour lobbing softballs to him?
Come on, he should have been prepared for the tought questing he got. Everybody around here knows what Russert's modus operandi is. Dig up an embarrassing quote and throw it in your face.
Dean should have come prepared, and he didn't. Howard has nobody other than himself to blame for his shoddy performance.
And hey, before you jump all over me, I'm not singling Dean out. I thought Kerry and Edwards sucked big time on their respective Meet the Press appearances last year, and I didn't mince words.

|
had comments on a wide range of questions and snarky comments by Russert.
He's not an actor or a liar....maybe we've forgotten what the opposite sounds like.
Your opinion is as valid as mine, but you need to specifically state how Dean "blew it" or otherwise you're just another POV who doesn't mince words.

25. To give a coherent message? I think not. |
|
He came prepared to sit in a chair opposite Tim Russert. His posture was impeccable.
But he wasn't prepared to answer the questions that Russert asked. Not by a longshot. Dean's reponses ranged from rambling to incoherent to flat out wrong (Osama Bin Laden wasn't involved in 9/11? EXCUSE ME?). Dean's performance was sloppy and undisciplined, just like his Iowa campaign.

Except where he confused Osama for Saddam, Dean gave a great interview. He did a great job framing the abortion debate and nailing The Hammer.
