Reverend Lovelace's Response
First my message, then his response. I love it when they realize they stepped into something deeper than they ever imagined; kudos and thanks to everyone else who obviously let him have it.

His reply is completely self-serving and defensive--not at all surprising--but he's publicly eating his own s*** and that's fine by me.

I love that he assumes everyone he pissed off are "them" Muslims.

THE REV'S REPLY:

To whom it may concern:

I'm Pastor Creighton Lovelace of Danieltown Baptist Church and out of
concern for the safety of Southern Baptist Missionaries and Muslims in
America, I issue this statement to the press.

PRESS RELEASE

I firmly believe that the Bible is God's Word - that it is indeed the only
divine written revelation from God. I also firmly believe that Jesus Christ
is the only means of salvation available to mankind.

Today, I believe these truths more than ever before.

When I posted the sign in front of the church, it was my intent only to
affirm and exalt the Bible and its teachings. It was certainly not my
intent to insult any people of faith, but instead to remind the people in
this community of the preeminence of God's Word.

When I posted the message on the sign, I did not realize how people for the
Muslim faith view the Koran - that devoted Muslims view it more highly than
many in the U. S. view the Bible.

Now I realize how offensive this is to them, and after praying about it, I
have chosen to remove the sign. I apologize for posting that message and
deeply regret that it has offended so many in the Muslim community.

I remain committed to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and renew my
commitment to proclaiming that message in the true spirit of Christ's love.

Rev. Creighton Lovelace

Depart from me, ye cursed...

2. Hey, he learned a little, and he grew up a little, maybe now
he'll be a little better as a person.

Maybe not, but we can hope.

3. IMO, he should have known about the Koran, didn't...
he attend college? To answer my own question, probably not. There are so many preacher's here who just have the calling. Such a pity when the Muslim population knows more, even about our Bible, than he does. A leader of a faith should know about the beliefs of other faiths, IMHO. Ignorance is causing the hate, they need to catch up with their mouth before opening it and inserting foot.

4. He's just an ignorant Theofascist.......
that does little or no thinking on his own. If it doesn't come from that book he keeps toting around, he doesn't want to know about it. People that take the words of the bible as a literal translation of everything that happens in our world are just plain crazy. They shut out everything else no matter how compelling a case is made and believe that every situation is covered in this book that was written, translated, rewritten, retranslated, rewritten...... Boneheads, one and all.

5. To be honest
I thought the sign was repulsive. But, it is his right to put it up. I don't think he's necessarily stupid or uneducated, many fanatics (both on the left and the right) are well educated people who have lost sight of what is truly important because they're so caught up in their own sense of grandeur.
I'm glad he's taking the sign down, I wish he had never put it up.
What I want to know is...
How come the administration doen't feel this guys sign contributes to any violence and loss of life in the Middle East.

7. Someone needs to explain to this so called 'Reverend'
that the gospel of Jesus and the bible are two different things. Often one has very little to do with the other.

10. He remains committed to WHAT?
"I remain committed to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and renew my
commitment to proclaiming that message in the true spirit of Christ's love."

If that's true, Mr. "Reverend," then WHY are you preaching hatred and divisiveness, and kicking dirt into the wounds of Christ? You are spitting in His face on His way to Calvary EVERY BIT AS MUCH as any of those "heathens" you denounce. I guess in your high-and-mighty pontifications, maybe you've forgotten Christ's teaching about what you do to the least of His brethren, you're doing TO HIM. Maybe you've forgotten his best-known nickname (of course, that may be in the Catholic realm) - which is the Prince of Peace. Maybe you've forgotten his numerous lessons on reconciliation and forgiveness and acceptance and tolerance and gentility and love. Maybe you've forgotten who it was at whom he ever really got pissed off? It was people like yourself. Read the Bible. The NEW TESTAMENT. Not the old moldy, irrelevant, extremist Leviticus crap. Read THE NEW TESTAMENT - that part of the Bible that pertains directly and exclusively to the Man you claim to represent and in Whose Name you claim to preach.

Your "holy book" isn't any Bible. It's a Buy-Bull.

11. How does it "exalt the bible" by flushing the Koran?
Mr. Lovelace (I won't call him Reverend because he doesn't deserve it.) is nothing more than a common stupid redneck. His sign was meant as middle finger not just to Muslims but to anyone that is open minded and respectful of the beliefs of others. His apology is too little and too late.

12. Some people can't create, only destroy, in order to support their MEME
Show me Christians who behave like Christ taught and I'll be persuaded to try it. Show me selfish people like this, and I'll run for the bomb shelter.

People wonder why there is violence and war. Haha I laugh.
