But it seems that cloture will pass. Sounded like Byrd voted aye, as did Clinton.
On edit: I was totally wrong, both Byrd and Clinton apparently voted no. That'll teach me. Sorry all.

is to end the debate and then vote for the nomination
A "no" vote for cloture allows more debate and delays the vote - that's what the Dems want so they can keep trying to get the info on the NSA intercepts from the State Dept

34. Are Reid and Durbin getting good at whipping votes? |
|
I just heard Andrea Mitchell say that Feinstein is becoming increasingly alienated from the Hard Right Wing leadership of the Republicans in the Senate. Feinstein voted with the Repubs on something and afterward said "she'd never do that again".
I hope the Dem moderates are getting alienated from the Right, not the left.
MSNBC is having a special Hardball. I'm flipping between it and C-span2.

126. Reid saying intent not to filibuster, but to get the information. |
|
The point is ..... Condi is NOT GOING TO GIVE THEM THE INFORMATION.
The Administration won't budge. The Dems won't budge. The Dems are semantically putting the ball in the White House's court -- and they won't release this stuff on Bolton -- EVER.
This is a big victory tonight.
C-Span was showing that message that a vote on Bolton would come immediately after the cloture vote. HA HA HA

144. This was the right thing to do |
|
It's another shot across the empire's bow--QUIT FUCKING WITH US! Reid summed it up well and calmly: We did not get the information, Frist couldn't get the information, we have important legislation to consider.
Wyden coming on right after with bipartisan legislation on pharmaceutical costs was a smart move as well.
All in all, a good win. Not a big win, not an outright NO on Bolton, but sure as hell a stand against Chimpy's grasp at dictatorship. Also official notice that the judicial compromise was NOT to be taken as surrender. :applause:
