2. The term derives from Pope J.P.II |
|
Whilst there are many criticisms made of him by many DUers, his position viz a viz 'life' was pretty much inimpeachable. He opposed both Gulf Wars, he opposed the death penalty &c.&c.
The adoption of the phrase by freepers loons is an insult to the late Pontiff, and (as you say) is practically laughable. When you hear it used, I suggest that you point out this origin and ask if they opposed war and if they oppose capital punishment.

3. And teaching kids that condoms don't protect against STD's |
|
and that an unresonable expectation of abstinance until marriage is the way to go - in the face of data that these kids will have sex anyway.
But of course, the only life they care about is the fetus in the 16yo that has unprotected sex because if she (or the boy) had a condom, that would mean she was "planning it", and go against her abstinance pledge.
Of course, once the child is born, the mother and child can go live on the streets as far as the Bush admin is concerned. If they die, it's then "God's will", right?

4. It's a culture of judgement |
|
The bad guys deserve to die. The wittle unborn babies are innocent, never having lived to committ a crime and all. Once they are 16 and have killed the 7-11 clerk then they deserve to die.
It's all about innocence and guilt. They are obsessed with innocence and purity AND obsessed with evil and guilt. The poor Iraqi's have of course, the bad luck of having been judged guilty by association. They live in Saddam's country and that country was associated with 9/11 so of course they are all terrorists and deserve to die. Simple thinking makes it simple, you see.
Of course the idea that everyone can eventually be bad and was originally innocent is not the point.
The point is judgement and punishment.
