The suggestion has been made that those who voted for bush should be drafted to fight his war. And such a suggestion bears gravitas since the Army and National Guard and Marine Corps once again are missing monthly recruiting goals. But is that not ironic? With all the macho flag waving conservatives in this country it boggles the mind that some of our Armed Services are missing recruiting goals. Surely they would want to do the patriotic thing and join the Army. But NO. Being typical cowardly fuck nut republicans they compound their drain on our country by tucking tail and running far away from recruiting offices. More irony. Who would want the cowardly conservative religiously insane serving our country in the military? Quite a conundrum for Army recruiters.
Bottom line: conservatives are scum and are costing our country an incredible amount of dollars and credibility and lives, all because george bush is a liar and a corporate criminal and a military deserter, and most damaging, a hero to the religiously insane.

2. Yes - since we have an all-volunteer military, you would think |
|
the recruiters would go after those who sincerely believe that US policy is on target. Up until now, they have targeted those in need of a job, but those folks aren't buying it in large numbers, huh?

5. If conservatives were as truly patriotic and love our country |
|
as they claim, Army recruiters would just have to unlock the door in the morning and spend their time processing the paperwork for the lines of "patriots" who are waiting to sign up. Every Army and Marine Corps Recruiter would meet or exceed recruiting goals every month IF CONSERVATIVES WERE PATRIOTIC.

3. But would we want a bunch of cowards serving next to our current |
|
men and women? I would think that would put everyone serving in danger. I know you served in the military - would you want to work side by side with such cowardly idiots?

4. Idea how to recruit young rethugs |
|
We are all familiar and probably have participated in voter registration drives.
What would prevent us from going to our local recruiting offices, building relationships and offering to help their efforts? Get the literature and attend events that would attract young rethugs (be very selective). Such events would be those held by Young Americans for Freedom, or a Fred Phelps protest.

6. Right before GW1 I was working with a diehard repub who listened |
|
to Rush Limbaugh every day at work. Not one of my favorite people because he was a jerk and liked to steal the credit for other peoples work. Anyway, GW 1 was on the horizon and we had lots of war and anti-war talks going back and forth. He said if we went to war, he was going to join up. Well, we went for war and we had a fight as to who would take him to the recruiting office. But he wouldn't go. Wouldn't even tell us why. Just dropped the subject. Cowards one and all.

Please accept my apologies for such an error. What was I thinking? You are right, a republican of any age would be an equal liability to any military organization but we can not discriminate, despite their loud and raucous protests to the contrary.

democracy depends on the military being integrated well with the public. an army of mercenaries will encourage more wars like this. our foreign policy would change dramatically if people knew they were voting to send everyone to war, not just the poor and undereducated.
think about it before you flame. the draft is coming, whether you like it or not, but it might not be so bad.

12. um...step away from the koolaid? or "what are you smokin?" |
|
You're thinking having republicans put their ass on the line for the war they support will be equivalent to "an army of mercenaries"? you gotta get out more -- freepers are lily-livered coward chickenhawks. They would the antithesis of mercenaries.
and in case you've havent been paying FURTHER attention, we HAVE an integrated military, which has NOT prevented wars like this: the rank and file soldiers have nothing to do with deciding who commander cuckoo bananas considers on his "axis of evil" list.
and the draft will come, but it will not be good.
not flaming, just saying "whatchu talkin' bout, willis"?

in a democracy, you vote for war, you go to war.
it's just that simple.
you pay people to go to war for you, well .. how much do you think their vote counts for?
the answer is less than you think. not every vote is created equal.
try to compare the vote of a weapons manufacturer to a citizen. you should not be surprised by their influence.
my assertion is simply that the american people, the decision makers, are detached from the military. or they are blind. point is, people in the know do not send their sons and daughters in the service. that close connection would make a huge difference in our foreign policy.
also, my post about the draft was not so much related to the post calling for the young repubs to enlist. really, calling for that is silly. i agree, yes every proponent for the war who is unwilling to make the sacrifice needs to shut the fuck up, but the point of my "bring back the draft" idea is that america would wake up. iraq would not have happened.
what does "integrated" military mean? blacks and whites? closet-gays?
my draft would have no loop holes for anyone. no air national guard. i want the sons of congressmen dying for the war. i want rich white surbia to pay in blood for what the steal (in blood) from the underprivileged.
i'm 22 years old. i'll be drafted. cheers.

14. If we had professional leadership in Washington |
|
with a well thoughtout and coherent foreign policy in place there would be no reason for a draft. The draft may very well be reinstituted because bush is a fricking incompetent surrounded by incompetents and supported by cowards. Bill Clinton used diplomacy and cooperation with other nations in the 90's, that's why Iraq did not have WMD and no one was discussing the need for the draft when all those good military deeds (Operations Southern and Northern Watch) were being done.
Chickenshit chickenhawk cowardly conservatives does not a mercenary force make. Idiots encourage wars like this and then choose to sit by and cheer from the sideliness thousands of miles away.

16. If I headed the Young Democrats.... |
|
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 04:15 PM by GloriaSmith
I would be busting my ass right now to get a national effort under way to serve enlistment forms to every Young Republican organization on college campuses throughout the country on the same day. I'd call it "Put Up or Shut Up Day". We could make a real fiesta out of the day. We'll throw a big party to welcome the Republicans into the service...balloons, cake, the works! Of course huge banners, posters, and flyers will be made so that the entire community is aware of the effort so that we, as a village, can all come together and thank the Young Republicans for supporting their own cause.
