There's a Bronco on our side |
|
I caught the tail end of a SC snippet this AM, Someone from the Broncos, I think a friend of Tillman's, was lambasting the people responsible for pissing on Pat's grave. He said, "our government is lying. I support the troops. I don't support the war or the administration."
Another white male athlete on our side! We're up to 10, I think.

6. yup. i am now most definitely rooting for him and the broncos though |
|
im not rooting for shanahan. have to draw the line somewhere!
and yes he was a very close friend of tillmans. they were teammates in college and pros i believe. as i mentioned in my earlier thread today, jake was the one who wanted to wear a sticker on is helmet of tillmans jersey # for the football season very interesting that the nfl didnt want jake to wear it for longer than the one glorified tribute to tillman the nfl/government put on
and jake (like pats parents) were upset to think back on said tribute. given what the truth of his death was, he now described that tribute more or less as a stunt by the military/govt to manipulate a patriotic response to the war
to think of what really went on and then they burn his uniform etc and make sure to trumpet his death only to use it to push their ghoulish war was just too much his poor parents/family
seeing that last night on espn news it was the first time since the "election" that i cried over what is going on. i made sure to do my devotional and had to let it go. truth will eventually win out....

10. I've cried twice over Tillman. |
|
Once when it first happened, and most recently when the story about his actual death was published, along with what the army did to cover it up.
I guess as long as Jake is playing for the Broncos, I can cheer for him. As a Cowboys fan I got used to hating him, but he doesn't play against us twice a year now, so I can finally let it go!

4. The guy I saw was not Plummer |
|
it was a lineman-looking guy.
Plummer and Tillman were teammates on the Cardinals and at ASU.
SC is SportsCenter. Maybe I will catch the 5:00 CT show and see if they rerun the bit.

5. He criticized the war but endorsed * anyway |
|
go figure.
I think among white male sports pros we have Walton, Phil Jackson, Dean Smith, Steve Nash, that baseball player who was rasied by a lesbian couple, Bill Bradley, Mike Richter, Bill Belichek, Theo Epstein, and the Bronco I saw today.

most Nike customers are probably Repubs. I don't like it, but I can understand it. I wonder if they scolded Coach K for campaigning for Libby Dole.

14. There was an article about how he actually connects with the black |
|
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 06:19 PM by TOJ
players like no other coach in any sport, and then the inference was drawn that he is pretty liberal. It was pretty common knowledge here in Chicago that Ditka's outspoken fascist views alienated some of his black players.
Belichik was asked about the subject durin gthe campaign and sort of endorsed Kerry, but moved on quickly.

From announcers to players, they all try to outdo one another on the flag waving bullshit bandwagon.

15. Well, since most of them are very healthy and in their 20's, |
|
if they're really in favor of Smirk's invasion they should follow Tilman's example and ditch their $1M/yr football uniforms for some $25K/yr army unforms.
