1. That was great....
Sums it all up. As Bill Maher said (I believe) "They hate us because we don't even know why they hate us."

4. Ya know...
...this is such a classic example of how effective the RW noise machine is. So much public mind-share, editorial bandwidth, and creative energy wasted on a complete non-issue. Once again they frame the debate, come out with an idiotic but incendiary accusation, and the liberals/progressives take the bait and spend a few weeks playing defense.

I really, really, wish I knew the antidote to this toxin that has poisoned the political discourse.

I don't mean to slam the poster or the subject: the cartoon is very clever and on the mark. Kudos to Fiore for his sharp wit. But think of all the more productive things he could have done with his time and energy.

5. The problem is Newsweek's gutless caving-in
Newsweek should have backed up its facts with more sources so the story would have defeated right wing criticism.

BUT Newsweek should also have stood its ground and defended that story. Instead, Newsweek retracted.

Newsweek should be standing up and raising hell now, defending its original story and shoving it into the faces of those who criticized it. But hey, what do you expect from a chickenshit corporate media?
