Observation about attitudes in Dean vs. Bidwards: |
|
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 01:40 PM by smartvoter
Many of us are unhappy with how Biden and Edwards undercut Dean. As we have expressed it, we have been accused, directly or indirectly, of being trolls, Freepers, trouble-makers (I love this one -- yeah, we orchestrated a Biden and Edwards slam on Dean, then used it to start a fight with other DUers) and who knows whatever else -- too many posts to wade through to find them all, but there are plenty.
Yet, interestingly, those who are speaking out against Edwards and Biden have not called the people who support the rug being yanked out from under Dean traitors, trolls, Freepers, etc., even as they are supporting actions that publicly smear our party.
To be clear, I'm not saying people who disagree with me are Freepers or trolls or whatever. I think you can genuinely disagree with me and that be the extent of it. Call me foolish, enlightened or somewhere in between, but that's the way I see it.
Nonetheless, it is interesting to see the difference in mindsets between the camps.

Do you think human beings are inherently territorial, intolerant, and aggressive, or is it just that the Internets brings out the total asshole in so many people?
Just wondering .........

5. Interesting question... |
|
I suppose the anonymity is a big factor, just like prank calls when we were kids. Makes it easier to take a swipe.
It's definitely that way in Internet games. You'll hear racism, sexism, all kinds of things that you'd never hear in public.
I would imagine that I am as guilty to an extent. I wrote yesterday that Edwards should STFU, but if I was seeing him personally, I'd make the case, and firmly, but probably not literally say "shut the fuck up."

7. In my experience, people will say things on the phone |
|
or internet, that they would never say face to face. I believe they are much more confrontational in a remote conversation.

2. I have no horse in this race since I'm not a Democrat |
|
but it just seems to me that Dean is the duly elected chairman of the Democratic Party and if he doesn't speak for the Democrats, who does?
and if the party leadership has a problem with what Dean is saying, then they need to sack him
and if Biden doesn't like what the head of his party is saying, maybe it's time for him to get out or do something to get rid of Dean

8. Biden, Edwards, the Clintons, and their DLC cohorts can't sack Dean |
|
Dean was legally elected to the Chair post by a unanimous consent of the 440 DNC member reps. Kerry, Clinton, etc tried to derail Dean after Dean formally announced his decision to pursue the DNC Chair position but all their nominees either opted out of the race or withdrew immediately when they couldn't garner any or enough votes to contest Dean.
Dean has the support of the majority of the DNC members regardless of what the Hill Dems think about him.

15. Well, the elected DLC clowns aren't on the sidelines but both elected |
|
and non-elected DLC clowns will lob bombs at Dean. They're still jealous of Dean's primary rebellion.

I never liked Edwards, and lost respect for Biden completely in the last couple of years.
I love Dean!
However, even Dean isn't liberal enough for me... but he speaks honestly and really lays it out for the people.

4. Maybe it's because us Dean supporters are getting used to |
|
being swiped at and spit on....after a while the defiance adrenaline kicks in.
This latest round is (yet again) a quote taken out of context and spun, spun, spun.
It's too bad the Chair of our Party (who had to run and get elected to the position against well supported opposition) can't get a little more support from Party members (and leadership). Does Al From tie their shoes for them as well?

6. WHOA! The people who have criticized Edwards and Biden have in |
|
fact called anyone who doesn't support every word out of the Chairmans mouth traitors. What you are saying is not true. By the definition that is being bandied about Dean himself is a traitor because he admitted his mistake! And the Dean defenders are also posting conspiracy theories involving Dean and Edwards attempting to work together to discredit Dean. I have seem just the reverse of what you are describing. Either way it is nasty and ought to stop. I still don't think this is a big Deal, and people should concentrate on important issues. Dean has corrected his statement and I don't get why his supporters don't accept his correction but insist he didn't mis speak and Kerry and Edwards are fiends not to agree with what Dean himself didn't mean. Dr. Dean appears to be in much more rational a place than some of his supporters. I sometimes wonder if any realize that they actually turn people who like Dean off?

Dean supporters have the high ground.
You stay down there in the Bidwards valley.

I find it odd that some don't even agree with Dean himself. Sigh. Just reading the threads finds ample evidence of who is nasty .
