URGENT!!! The "Attack Iran Plan" beginning to take shape!!!!
I posted an NYT article today that reviews a RW Book by U.S. Congressman and "Washington Times Water boy" Curt Weldon of Pennsylvania-R called "Countdown to Terror: The Top-Secret Information That Could Prevent the Next Terrorist Attack on America and How the CIA Has Ignored It."

With the first poster, it quickly became clear that this is a BIG step forward in the "Make the case to Attack Iran" campaign. the link to the thread is below, have already gathered a bunch of evidence of this "Fraud in progress." Goto the post at this link:

Here's a short clip of the article below, or at the other post.

Lawmaker's book finds "incompetence" at CIA

By Scott Shane The New York Times

FRIDAY, JUNE 10, 2005

WASHINGTON In a new book, a Republican congressman lambastes the Central Intelligence Agency, accusing it of "gross incompetence" for dismissing an Iranian expatriate who he says offered critical information about terrorist threats, the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden and Iran's nuclear weapons program. The congressman, Representative Curt Weldon of Pennsylvania, vice chairman of the House Homeland Security and Armed Services Committees, said he decided "in desperation" to publish the information because he feared the government was not acting on his source's warnings.

But Weldon's allegations have infuriated CIA officials, including a veteran case officer who said he had met with the congressman's source four times in Paris. "He's never given us any information that was the slightest bit credible," said Bill Murray, the CIA station chief in Paris when he met Weldon's source, an elderly Iranian who once served in the shah of Iran's government. "This guy was a waste of my time and resources."

3. No. I'm encouraged - this is amateur & flakey. The CIA spokesman
quoted in the NYT says that no one takes Weldon's "source" seriously.

A real propaganda offensive before an actual attack on Iran would be very different. Not to say it couldn't happen, but this isn't part of any serious offensive.:tinfoilhat:

8. I agree, we (Democrats) are much better prepared for this...
...type of scandal.

I think they've lost the element of surprise, or at least we have a better idea of how truly crazy these bastard are.

4. Someone also called Randi Rhodes today about Iran
They pointed out how the noise coming out of Washington about Iran's "threat" is almost identical to what the administration was saying about Iraq in making the case for war.

6. At this point, I think the best he could do is Air-Strikes
Which I think would be a VERY BAD Idea.

Iran is a much bigger and more populated country.

But according to Scott Ritter, this was supposed to happen in mid-June, so our (Democrats) efforts have helped delay this all starting a little.

7. Democrats are pounding the war drums too !!!!!!
Edited on Thu Jun-09-05 06:41 PM by welshTerrier2
don't lose sight of the fact that the Democratic Party is totally controlled by the DLC hawks ...

here are two recent comments and an excerpt from last year's Democratic Party platform ... bush is evil; many elected Dems are enabling him to continue his never-ending global war and occupation ... sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that's the way it is ... notice the official position of the Democratic Party calling for "mandatory inspections" in IRAN !! isn't that what was used as a justification to invade IRAQ ??? and notice that those speaking out about Syria and Iran, in making their assessments, made no mention of how to AVOID WAR with those countries ... when we attack Syria and Iran, we should not just blame bush and the republicans; we should blame those who did not do all they could to find a way to AVOID WAR !!!

Obama from the Senate floor during the Bolton hearings: "I would say the policy has been less about patience and more about paralysis--a dangerous situation for a nation such as Iran that is developing nuclear weapons, is a state sponsor of terrorism, and is meddling in Iraq."

Biden on the Don Imus show: "now you have, pouring across the border from Iran, and especially Syria, all these jihadists" ...

Democratic Party platform: "Even as we have scoured Iraq for signs of weapons of mass destruction, Iran has reportedly been working to develop them next door. A nuclear-armed Iran is an unacceptable risk to us and our allies. The same is true for other countries that may be seeking nuclear weapons. This is why strengthening the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty is so critical. We must close the loophole that lets countries develop nuclear weapons capabilities under the guise of a peaceful, civilian nuclear power program. We also need to strengthen enforcement and verification and make rigorous inspection protocols mandatory."
