DailyKos voting to have Conyers hearings on the Capitol steps
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/6/14/173723/085

YOU SHOULD HOLD YOUR HEARING ON THE STEPS OF OUR CAPITOL. Because this concerns everyone and should be put in the public for everyone to see. Not to mention the press pass this would give you!

SO I beg you congressman, reconsider!

4. Rep Conyers has been blogging to KOS
and I have enjoyed the communication. We the common folk, who write and read these important talk forums, appreciate that Rep. Conyers respects us and our views and knows the value of connecting with us and keeping us upfront and informed.

Someone please send Kerry a few computers and directions as to how to navigate the web, and instruct his aides as to the enormous amount of energy, ideas and passion, that is being expended on these forums. Someone please clue Kerry in to the fact that WE THE PEOPLE have a voice, we are expressing that voice, and are excercising the voice and we do not appreciate much the aloof ,distancing present between here and that Senatorial great white pedastle clothed in complicated language.

19. I love Conyers' blog too
:D That's another great way to communicate and his admins post too sometimes. Mainly when things get out of control like when the freepers came and called him awful names. I do like to get Kerry's Emails too. I loved when he was running last year and had the blog and people could voice on there and his message board. I wish they still had that up. :(

5. Senselessbrenner is so stupid
Denying Conyers the use of hearing rooms will merely draw more attention to Conyers' forums, and the Capitol steps, or around the Reflecting Pool or right on the Capitol Mall will suit Conyers just as well.

C'mon folks, we're smarter than they are. Where else should Conyers hold his little, unofficial forums?

right in front of the Vietnam War Memorial---the names of the 58,000 American casualties of that war used as a backdrop for the cameras?

Edit for typo.

9. There's an appropriate choice
But it would disturb too many folks who've traveled a long ways to be there for a private moment, so it's probably not the best choice.

I like it, though.

11. Yeah, I know...
but, just around the corner is the Lincoln Memorial..that great monument to FREEDOM, and the site of MLK, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream Speech." Not to mention that Lincoln was a Republican. Have it there, and then pan the camera over now and then to the Vietnam War Memorial, to remind people why they are there instead of in the Senate room. BTW, I really do think that if the room is empty--ought to go in there anyway---the Repukes would have to use the capitol police to keep them out. Wouldn't that be a great "camera moment?"

He SHOULD hold them on the steps instead of (as he said on Ed Schultz) two blocks away!!

Will the pleas from Kos and others to make a scene on the steps get to him in time???

21. This idea reminds me of that West Wing episode...
...when the House leadership was trying to force Bartlett into a standoff to make him look bad. So Bartlett walked over to their offices, patiently sat cooling his heels in the hallway while they dithered and the press snapped pictures, and then got up and walked away. Presto, he was the media darling, and the other side looked like rude children.

A little show to force the ridiculously disrespectful treatment into the public eye would be like candy to the idiot box "news" shows.

22. The Freemasonic phase "Light, more light" . The disinfectant UV TRUTH
rays can't be shut out by these Whited Sepulchers !

Republican Hypocrites Fear Truth like the wicked witch fears water !

The Freemasonic symbols of respect for the truth are sprinkled all over the Capital city of DC. Republicans just can't see them they are hidden in plain sight.

Washington's spirit is looking down on you DUers and progressives and he's smiling broadly on Rep Conyers, don't you doubt it.

23. That's funny
because this last weekend, at Camp Wellstone, one of the assignments was to create a press event (my group was trying to get the state congress to not eliminate school funding) and we decided to hold a school class on the capitol steps.

You have to remember... it might rain and they have to have it indoor. Of course if it's beautiful day, then, they should have it on capital steps!!!

29. No, DNC meeting makes it PARTISAN as well as INVISIBLE, both of which
the Repubs want. Getting wet in the rain is a helluva lot less of a disaster than what is happening in Congress right now. It must be STOPPED, and to be stopped, it must first be SEEN.

the citizens of this country denied access? Even the minority party should have access to THE PEOPLE'S CAPITAL!

On Edit,

This pisses my off to no end...what the hell gives them the right to deny the Democrat party access to it's hearing rooms? Since when does having the majority gives you the deed to PUBLIC BUILDINGS? The Capital is for the people....ALL THE PEOPLE including the minority party. They have no right to deny it's access!

go Conyers, it could turn into media coverage. Make them look like the fools they are, they are losing support of their own base.
