been at the mercy of the republican attack machine. It's too easy to bitch about our leaders mistakes from a computer in our home. I have nothing but respect for Durbin and it is clear from his speech that he was under a lot of pressure from the dark side. The fact that he was nearly crying on live television, tells you how hard this was on him. In a sense this is our failure too. We should've done more. I'm not sure what, but we better figure it out. They're only people and I'd like everyone to try and imagine what its like being under seige by a million rabid Limbaugh listeners. Durbin was alone on the Senate floor. We need to come up with a better way to support our guys. Brainstorm thread?

1. Very few have been under that level of assault. Will Pitt probably can |

tell you what it feels like to a degree. Chris Heinz, certainly. Andy's felt some of it. Same with David Allen of Plan9.
It must be pure wretchedness. I applaud any Dem who sticks his/her neck out. The rightwing only attacks those they fear. The others are ignored or laughed at, but rarely attacked.

We're so much more accommodating. Please let real Americans be in charge again.
