Did Guckert/Gannon get back in the Press Room Monday?
Q Scott, since President William Howard Taft became Chief Justice after his presidency, you would not rule out the President nominating former law school professor Bill Clinton to the Supreme Court, would you? And if you wouldn't, we can report that President Clinton is under consideration, can't we?

MR. McCLELLAN: Well, that's the first time I've heard that name suggested. I know there are a lot of names being suggested out there, and you know that I'm not going to get into speculating about any particular names.

Q One follow-up. Considering the widespread interest and the absolutely frantic Democrat reaction to Karl Rove's excellent speech to conservatives last month, does the President hope that Karl will give a lot more speeches?

Scotty never addresses this reporter by name, but it has to be someone from Faux. Or Newsmax.

At least David Gregory and the gang didn't let this plant distract from the barrage of Karl Rove questions.

Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 03:26 AM by larissa
..conference the Olbermann show really HIGHLIGHTED Gregory's stellar performace.. but did someone really pose a Q to McClellan about President Clinton?

:) I definitely missed that part.... We're they asking him a serious question, and if they were... did he (mcClellan) just blow them off or did he respond?

2. WH press corps mystery man: LESTER KINSOLVING
Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 03:19 AM by Moochy

I've posted like 5 times today about the incredible man of mystery on DU. :)

Regarding Clinton for the Supreme Court, he was either being coy, and conservative or catty and right wing.

LESTER KINSOLVING,
World Net Daily WH Correspondent.

Search google for him, he's got a storied past.

Here's some choice links:

from LA Times: http://americablog.blogspot.com/2005/02/la-times-wins-award-for-worst.html

Lester Kinsolving, conservative radio commentator, wore a clerical collar to White House briefings in the Reagan years. His loud voice and off-beat, argumentative questions often provoked laughter.

from http://www.eurolegal.org/greendogdem/gdd0205/20050225gdd.htm (archived salon content)

Lockhart recalls having been confronted with a similar question of White House access regarding veteran Baltimore, Md., radio host Lester Kinsolving, who for decades has pitched eccentric, long-winded and usually conservative-leaning questions inside the briefing room. (Kinsolving is currently recuperating from triple-bypass surgery.) Lockhart thought it was inequitable that Kinsolving was virtually the only local radio show host with daily access. "The issue got kicked up to my level. I thought it was fundamentally unfair, and it was clear that he was an annoyance to everyone in the room. And frankly we should have shut him down. But I knew if we kicked him out it would be a big story with the right-wing press, and I didn't need that."

He's also mixed up with Jonestown, he was a reporter here in SF for the Examiner back in the late 70s':

We had exposed this in 1973," Mr. Kinsolving recalls. "Then, wouldn't you know? Rosalynn Carter invited Jones to have dinner with her . She had a whole bunch of Secret Service agents with her, and when Jones showed up with his 'gunslingers' they still managed to work it out.
