If Rove only heard about Plame through Novak, |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 12:25 PM by elperromagico
why didn't he say so months ago?
Why didn't Scott McCllelan say so months ago?
The "outing" of Plame occurred almost exactly two years ago; Rove has had plenty of opportunities since that time to "set the record straight." Considering that suspicion has rested on Rove's head for some time, why has he made no effort to clear himself?
Why has he waited until now?

You would think that Rove coming out and explaining it that he was trying to set the record straight IN THE FIRST PLACE would have only served to bolster the credibility of the Bush Administration...all during a controversial invasion/occupation and going into the heat of a tough re-election campaign.

2. Is he claiming that he heard it from Cooper as well??? |
|
I don't think so. I think he's claiming to have heard it from Novak, and then passed it on to Cooper. Of course, that doesn't make the Administration's ordeal any more benign -- since now he not only distributed this info but confirmed it, and also there's another person in the Administration who gave the name to Novak.
But anyway, who is saying that Rove heard it from Cooper?

4. The story changes daily and sometimes I lose track |
|
of all the vigorous spinning. You must pardon me if I get mixed up.
First, it was that Rove only mentioned "Joe Wilson's wife" to Cooper.
Now, we find out that Novak mentioned "Joe Wilson's wife" to Rove and Rove then mentioned "Joe Wilson's wife" to Cooper.
What will the next piece of this never-ending jigsaw puzzle be? It seems the facts about the leak are being leaked even more slowly than the leak itself.

3. Because It's a double secret. |
|
And besides that, although only six reporters were known to be told about it . We can assume many more were in the loop. Thats another cover-up... umm,I mean story.

.... that IF this is true, he didn't because of the federal rules of criminal procedure regarding grand jury secrecy. If you notice, the source for the story isn't attributed for the same reason, and Rove actually hasn't "waited until now".. he still isn't talking. I know it goes against our grain to think that the creep wasn't the source AND actually obeyed the law by not revealing his testimony.

7. I don't think it's a matter of Rove obeying the law. |
|
I think it's a matter of Rove covering for whoever gave the info to Novak.
Rove may very well not be the leaker. He is far from being pure as the driven snow, though. If if wasn't Rove, then Rove knows who it was.

8. And may that person be Novakula. But a question.... |
|
... Do you think it could be Miller? That might explain why she won't talk. Unless she'd take the 5th instead of just refusing to appear.

9. Truth is, we can't really be certain who got the leak in the first place. |
|
Was it somebody leaking to Miller, who then told Novak, who then told Rove, who then told Cooper?
Or was it somebody leaking to Novak, who then told Rove, who then told Cooper, who then told Miller?
Or was it Colonel Mustard in the library?
It's like some insane game of telephone.
Hopefully, the work of the grand jury will clear up those muddy waters at least a little.
