Hey people. I was just having a thought today. They're the outsiders. The media doesn't want either of them near their boy. What would happen if Dean and Clark came out tomorrow and said, "Vote for one of us, and you're guaranteed the other?" Basically, a vote for Dean for President is a vote for Clark for Vice President, and vice versa. Wouldn't THAT make Brit Hume's head explode.

Later.

1. Here's an idear that I had:
In states where Dean is closer to winning than Clark, Clark people should team up with Dean. In states where Clark is closer to winning than Dean, Dean people should team up with Clark.

6. I don't know. We need the campaigns to work together on that.
But I doubt they would share our enthusiasm.

shouldn't be either.

7. I'd go along
Especially after Kerry's negative campaigning against Dean and Clark.

against the attacks from the media.

9. I'd have to agree with that
Despite my skepticism of Clark's intentions, I think the worse he could be is a Clintonite.

I think they should make a go of it, and really hammer on their strongest issues. At the very least they'd get Kerry singing like a liberal songbird!

More than that, I think they can win the Presidency.

10. That has been my wish all along.
They compliment each other so well. Wish Clark would have taken the VP position on the Dean ticket.

IMO the two would be the most powerful team ever, at least in my lifetime.

*sigh

15. To be fair and honest, it's not time for that
Clark is running a presidential campaign of his own.

And VP running mates are normally not announced until after one of the candidates has been nominated.

I must admit that before Clark officially announced, when there were rumors of Dean and Clark as a team, I got pretty excited along with many other people.

But Clark deserves to continue his presidential campaign, as does Dean It's unfair to expect them to do otherwise.

I *do* think, however, that they might think about teaming up regarding the integrity of the primary campaign and of the media.

17. Agreed.
I am in the Clark camp actualy.

I was essentialy refering to the time before Clark even announced.

I was excited to when that was the buzz.

But anyway, one can dream can't he? ;-)

21. agree
"I *do* think, however, that they might think about teaming up regarding the integrity of the primary campaign and of the media."

They have been honest and spoken with more concern for what's important than what sounds good and is safe. They're paying for it and should somehow turn the tables.

11. I good idea, but
Clark would be a better president I believe than Dean (though Dean is good). Clark just has it all, and is more knowledgeable and skilled in things like foreign affairs than Dean.

13. THEN VOTE CLARK.
Read VERY carefully here..."...and vice versa" means "A vote for Clark is a vote for Dean as Vice President." There is NOTHING bad in this scenario about voting Clark for President.

12. Yes we should. At the very least - we should go against the media....
We both have the only candidates willing to take a risk and to speak out - not be careful... And they're paying for their bravery.

20. I am so for this idea. Why.......
can't Dean just say "If I get the nomination Clark will be my VP"

And Clark could say "If I get the nomination Dean will be my VP"

Yeah it's stupid, but I can't help but feel that together they could do the most good for this country. Sigh

23. I like the idea but it is just not traditional. the
public would go with something new and untraditional but they are so afraid of angering someone that they walk a slender line down the middle. Look at what happened when Clinton asked Hillary to develop health care.

And for that matter, the General? This is just the next step.

22. I think both want the #1 spot.
Just a thought.

We here at DU aren't going to make them join up if the candidates aren't ready to do it.

24. Under this system, they can HAVE the #1 spot if they want it...
...but if more voters come out for the other one, they serve as VP. It's a very good system.

28. My father was saying this months ago..
except he was saying it about Clark and Edwards--this was when Edwards was polling under 10% most everywhere.

Anyways, I think it's a very interesting idea..it would get HUGE media coverage. The thing with sharing supporters (kind of like the DK/Edwards deal) could only go until it was winnowed down to a Dean vs. Clark race. I think it's highly improbable, but it's still a very intriguing hypothetical.
