What could possibly happen between now and then? I shudder to think. At best we will get a late-afternoon pre-weekend news dump. However, beware of big distractions. But I don't need to tell you that!

5. The US Attorney requested an extension on the 6/30 court-mandated deadline
The request was for 7/22. I could never find a record of the court approving the extension, but it must have happened. Otherwise, the Department of War would have been held in contempt for not meeting the original deadline. Meanwhile, I hold my breath for the 7/22 deadline.

7. Why not? It is court ordered.
I tend to agree (obviously from my comment), but I don't know shit from Shinola (like Steve Martin in the 1979 film The Jerk). If you have better insight, share. Even if it is a good gut-feeling! Know what I mean?

8. Because the bush** administration cannot afford pictures being released
that are even worse than the ones we saw the first time around. As a matter of fact, they can't afford any more bad news right now of any kind. Even though they need some kind of diversion to take everyone's mind off Rove, this ain't they kind that they want or can afford.

The British, fresh off their terror (or as bush** would phonily say 'terra') attack would probably not be too happy to see any more pictures that show what a farce this war is and what a bunch of thugs their own government is dealing with.

And as for Iran, Syria, Lebanon, etc. The Middle East is exploding as we speak. These pictures would just be more gasoline on the flames.

Nope. We're won't be seeing those pictures, not without one hell of a fight.

10. They're working on that little problem right now. Hell, they've got the
whole legal team in the Oval Office trying to bail KKKarl's ass out of trouble. Why not take care of everything all at once. They're probably drawing up the papers for another extension right now. But even if they didn't get it. What do you think will happen? Who's gonna get arrested? What can anyone really do? Who's gonna be held responsible. And by who?

And truthfully, they don't care. Before, anyone 'involved' in the Plame affair would be out of the WH and a job pronto Tonto. Now it's gotta be someone has to be convicted of a 'crime'. Because believe me, an indictment ain't gonna cut no ice with these thugs. That's pretty much a laughing matter. These are the guys who gave us Gitmo and Abu Graib.

So don't expect any Kodak moments anytime soon.

12. I quote you: "Who's gonna get arrested?"
Or sent to Iraq? Reminds me of one of our our Vietnam Veterans Against the War mantras in the early 1970's: "Whatcha gonna do? Send me back to the 'Nam?" It is a circular cluster fuck.

14. It would be nice if we could get a "heads up" from the ACLU...
I've heard July 22nd, too, but no one seems to be talking about it, or able to verify.

In advance of the upcoming release of 144 more photos and several videos (Due to be handed over on Friday the 22nd following an extension granted by the federal judge hearing the case), I wanted to post these very interesting links.

http://action.aclu.org/torturefoia /

The consist of a large body of documents so far released by the feds in response to ACLU FOI requests and legal actions to back up those requests. It includes many first hand accounts of torture from prisoners interviewed as part of various abuse investigations.

The documents record numerous outrageous acts of prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib, Camp Bucca and GITMO. As these photos break in the media(next week I expect), be prepared with facts and real information about what is happening in these facilities. They will be lying like dogs. Have facts to back your arguments!

Do not let them rest. They are sweating the war, Rove, Bolton, etc. This will keep the pressure up. The cracks are widening with each passing day and they are taking on water at a rate they can not deal with. Help drill a few more holes in this rotten ship.

We need to end this war NOW!

ON EDIT: PLEASSE SUPPORT THE ACLU! NO ONE IS WORKING THIS ISSUE AS HARD AS THEY ARE!

18. As a proud, card-carrying member of the ACLU, I reiterate - UPDATE PLEASE!
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 04:56 PM by impeachdubya
I'm thrilled they're out there working this thing, but the last update on ANY of this stuff is dated June 2.

http://www.aclu.org/SafeandFree/SafeandFree.cfm?ID=18395&c=206

Lots of us were left scratching our heads when the June 30th deadline came and went without a peep as to what was going on.

Now people are saying Friday, but no one seems to have any sort of official word on that, other than that the DOD 'requested' until 7-22.

Can we get a legitimate, verifiable word one way or the other that this is the case? I'm checking your other thread as we speak.

As near as I can tell, there is no word as to what happened with the request for the extension being granted, etc.

This is why it would be nice if the ACLU could update us (meaning the American People) on the situation. Just a couple lines on the website, so we know what's going on.

Anyway, I'm not holding my breath--- but let's hope the stuff comes out Friday.

16. If the admin tries to continue holding these back...
...what do you guys think the chances are of a media outlet publishing new pics? Certainly the Pentagon/WH aren't the ONLY ones with these pictures, or else we wouldn't know the first thing about them....right?

Of course, it will accidentally happen when she reaches for the telephone. I don't think there is a ghost's chance of us ever seeing those photos.

(For all you young uns, Rosie is the one who deleted the Nixon tapes.)
