"You should try harded to band abortion(from one christian to the next) This is agianst the law b/c its killing and u are killing.my parents voted for u so u better take care of our country the right way!!!"

Boy, if this is any indication of how well we've educated our children, we're all SCREWED!

9. In fairness
homeschooled children have won the national spelling bee for the last several years running. Often they have captured all of the final slots.

13. Yeah, but in fairness...
those spelling bee kids have all sorts of hormonal problems and delayed puberty because their parents push them so hard.

16. Oh, yeah.
Look at this poor crumbsnatcher.

He was trying to spell "mouse" and he ending up spelling "moose."

They kept him in a shed for three days.

15. I am not claiming that spelling is the be all and end all
after all I can't spell well myself. But I do think it is unfair to say a poor speller, like the letter writer was homeschooled when by at least one measure, homeschoolers are better spellers.

don't miss the second part:

"2. I'm thirteen and I want a job. I need a job. I don't get a allowence and I need money for the things a girl needs. whats the difference between a 14 and a 13 yr old??? I understand for big jobs but what about working at a ice cream place or somthing I am mature and well educatwed and so are many other teens if u surf the web and go to this one page u will find millions of teens that think the same.

other than these complaints your doing a great job

Wow. We need to really teach our children how to write and spell. Taking the creativity away from a teachers and a school curriculum is definitely going to hurt us in the long run.

17. Red ink
I remember sending a teacher's note back with red ink corrections. My wife was mortified, until we went to parents night. There was no attempt to correct or teach spelling. And don't get me started on the math wheel......No wonder kids cannot make change.

This was ten years ago. Private school or home schooling was not an option. We spent many hours 'correcting' grammar and teaching the multiplication tables.

Our school system was considered one of the best. I always wondered what the others were like.

First off, I'm going to admit to this message board that I'm a horrible speller, but thanks to my pocket Webster's Dictionary, no one notices. Away way, this poor 13 year old really needs a dictionary, unless her parents don't believe there usage, since it's so obvious that this kid is homeschooled, because I went to the lowest performing public school in the whole county, but at the age of 13 I knew how to spell the words "ban", "Harder" and "educated" and I could of wrote a much better letter to the president and at the age of 13 is already against abortion.
